Leaked 5.7.893 Full update (.886 --> .893)

Are you one 5.5.886? Have you changed anything in your system at all, including things like applying the WebTop hack?

Yes, I'm on 5.5.886, and have not applied the webtop hack. What I DID do was inadvertently go from 5.5.886 to 5.5.893. Then I realized I used the wrong updater (wanted 5.7.893), so I restored a nandroid backup to get back to 886. The nandroid backup should get me completely back to 886, right? That's what is showing in my system settings.

No, the Nandroid will NOT get you completely back.

If you care to be a guinea pig, then follow the steps I have above exactly -use R3L3AS3DRoot to revert, then try to apply the update.

If you want to play it safer, update to 5.6then 5.7.893, then revert using R3L3AS3DRoot to 5.5.886 (you can remain unrooted if you wish) and then finally apply the full update in the OP.

Need links for the 6 and 7?

Yes, those links would be great. I'd prefer to take the safer route. Also, every time I try to open the zip for the R3L3AS3DRoot method, I get a corrupted zip file error. Do you have a link to one that works? Thanks!

EDIT: Found the links to the 5-6-7 step-by-step versions, but still can't get the R3L3AS3DRoot zip file to extract on Windows.

Well none of it is working for me.
I did the complete stock restore, rooted and forever rooted.
(had some issues there but figured them out)
Tried the file from the first post and got basically the same error as dberthia:
"Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
Installing update...
Verifying current system...
assert failed: apply_patch_check("MTD:boot:8388608: REALLY LONG STRING")
E:Error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted."

Tried each of the individual files in the second part of the OP and all of those gave me the same type of errors as well.

Maybe I'm just getting bad downloads, but I usually have good luck from here at work.

Anyone else have any ideas?

I'll try again from home and update.

I had a similar (status 7) issue back on my Droid X when I was trying to apply an update and it had to do with the hijack file left from Bootstrapper. I was able to remove the file through Root Explorer and then the update worked perfect. I am not sure if this is the solution for you but I thought it might be worth mentioning.

Well I got mine updated along with the webtop version as in the photo above. Here's what I had to do.

AFTER restoring everything to stock and establishing forever-root. I then had to install incrementally the three links in the second "show" section above. Then.... flashed the update from the first link in the first "show" above. Now everything is registering correctly and I have root. (This flashing is done via stock-recovery and not CWM)

I am not sure why this has to be done this way but the little hint, "read carefully, please..." made me a little more determined to figure this out. I now show everything just as the screen shot does in the second post in this thread.

I have not had a chance to test or see what benefits these updates have had. I'm just happy to relate that I'm there now. ;-)

Where was that file located?

It was located in system/bin here is a copy of the instrucions I found from before with a link to them.

How to remove Bootstrapper
1. Reroot
2. Get root explorer in the market
3. Uninstall the bootstrap app
4. Go into root explorer to system/bin
5. In top right corner tap r/w
6. Delete the file called hijack
7. Delete logwrapper
8. Rename logwrapper.bin to just logwrapper
9. Reboot and it should be gone.

Well, I did the option 2 on forever root so I didn't lose any date... I then did the update.. Everything went through perfect... However date issue is there and worse, at least for me... I shut off my wifi and the 3g never even popped up... Did airplane on and off, 3g came up but would not turn blue and still no connection, airplane on and off again, no 3g.. rebooting now and hoping this was just a fluke...

-Corey

Edit: rebooted, still NO data at all without wifi on... So my data was better before the update, at least it worked, lol...

Edit AGAIN: well, I got data working.. I had to go into the ##program menu and set my data back to cdma, evdo, and lte.. I had lte turned off as I'm not in a 4g area, but evidently it was causing issues with 3g.. however if I just turn lte off in the regular settings menu it works fine...
