then you must be hating using google maps on the S1. At first I got used to the slow loading and when you scrolled around, I just figured it was normal to wait 5 seconds for the next block to load. Then when I temporarily had a Droid- WOW! google maps was lighting fast and it seemed like THATS how google maps on your phone should work. It would locate me immediately and when I started scrolling around to see the next areas off my screen, that was already there, didnt have to load! It was only when I was maybe 10 miles past my current location that the screen temporarily loaded and that only took about .5 sec. Then I came back to the S1 and man, what a waste. Its so damn frustrating especially when you are driving. Then it just hangs up and you have to reboot and that takes 8 mins to reboot, and by that time youve already reached your destination

pain...real pain

My girlfriend has an LG Envy and it gave directions better than my "smartphone." So sad. I just dont understand why or how my S1 got so slow all the sudden. I even need to force it to update google sync now, which i never had to do before. Ive even told my friends and family not to expect texts more than a sentence from me just to limit myself from getting frustrated... The Incredible cannot come soon enough.

Okay, I'm not sure if this means anything, and I'm also not sure if this has been discussed- I couldn't find reference to it, but according to Phonearena, the PB31200 went through FCC testing with baseband version 0.40.00.12.21, and software version 0.62.0.0. Here's a link:

Image from "HTC PB31200 jumps through the FCC flaunting CDMA bands"

The photo of the software settings screen on the Incredible shows a baseband version of 0.81.00.01.26, and software version 0.92.605.0. Here's a link:

Exclusive HTC Incredible Photos (Update: Video)

For those that are familliar with the software progression in these phones, does this mean that the PB31200 is likely not the Incredible, or is the large difference in software version numbers (assuming that new versions are numbered sequentially) meaningless with respect to the likelihood that these are indeed the same phone?

My friend works for a company that tests new cell phone designs before they go to the FCC.
When they get the phone, the software load is very minimal and the UI is very simple. Just enough to test the different radios in the unit. So, I don't think it matters much that the loads that went through the FCC differed so much numerically from what was seen in that video.

Thanks for the info- exactly the sort of answer I wanted. I know this doesn't guarantee that the PB31200 is the Incredible, but at least all hope is not lost.

^It's completely logical...release a powerhouse phone for the power users, and a lesser but still good quality phone for the women and children :D LOL

I sure hope so, I returned my Eris today. I really consindered getting the Moto Droid but decided that Incredible or N1 is what I really want in a phone. That being said, I think I could take or leave sense, I didn't find it to be a must have over stock. But back to my old S1 for now!

I went back to my old omnia. I think it will make me appreciate the next phone THAT much more.

Preachin' to the choir! I'm back to my HTC Touch (aka xv6900)...after a month with an Eris. I returned the Eris because it didn't seem like enough of an improvement knowing the N1/Passion/Bravo/Incredible was around the corner. Now I miss the Eris more day by day ;)

I'm also having flashbacks to the month or two before the Touch was finally released on VZW, desperately hunting for news, rumored specs, and heaven forbid.....a release date

BTW, another lurker speaking up.

It would be cool if Verizon did release the Incredible as the same time as the Devour... pull a little switcheroo, HTC gets to put out the shining star this time instead of Motorola :) Obviously I'm not getting my hopes up but just a thought

I'm keeping my fingers crossed too but I'm not seeing HTC putting out ads with Megan Fox in the tub, that's a hard act to outshine

This will be a big upgrade for you from the Touch. i heard it had something like a 250mhz processor. I have seen some nice roms for it though, so you can do some customizing. I have touchflo and windows 6.5.3 on my omnia, but it still doesn't quench the thirst.

I hear ya! It's more the upgrade away from WM. I've unlocked, flashed new radios, activated the GPS, flashed new roms, and finally cooked my own roms...which weren't far off the current WM Sense UI, but it was still Windows Mobile :( The phone itself wasn't that far off, 400 mhz with 128 ram, but after hacking it for everything it's worth it's become glitchy and sucks the battery down.
After using Android for a month I'm sold, also a firm believer in Sense. I haven't ruled out the N1 but I would just end up flashing a Sense rom onto it and I think I should be able to find an off the shelf phone that meets my requirements, que Mr. Incredible :D I don't want to have to hack my phone anymore.

BTW, how many Montana folks we got here? I think I've already counted three others on this thread alone...

I was JUST thinking the same thing! There's at least 4 of us Montanans hungry for something out there to fill that Droid Void! :p

been lurking since october or so. My Voyager died in november ( I was at VerizonVoyager-hello phases) and I had to go back to my Samsung A950. You wanna know pain? no more touch, QWERTY (voyager QWERTY rocks!) and no net. I got a red faced flip with a cracked screen- all cause I'm too cheap to spend $50 (replacement cost) two months before my NE2. here I am STILL waiting.
I don't care it the thing has a neon back and yellow stripes, I just want it.

Now That I'm registered, maybe I'll chime in, but that will just make this thread too long (almost 400 replies for a phone that is only rumored?!?)

Im a voyager owner as well, not broken yet but it does turn off randomly sometimes. the incredible is confirmed, but some specs and a release date are the only thing rumored.

I'm using the Samsung Alias from VZW, it has a full qwerty keyboard and can be flipped open in landscape or vertical, but the speaker stopped working last month so I can right now only use it on speaker phone, which is killing me and my gf LOL...and I'm also too cheap to spend $50 on a new piece of crap phone...March 15th the Devour is coming out, I hope also the incredible...we need some more concrete info from MWC this weekend...I'm going to be skiing in the middle of nowhere in Vermont this weekend and I'll surely be having some tech news withdrawal lol

Holding out for this phone is getting so much harder as the days pass. My NE2 with $100 discount is up and I'm trying to fight the urge to walk in and buy a Droid tomorrow because I want a new phone so badly. I've been checking these forums and the web religously multiple times a day for a release date since November, like a lot of you, I just want the wait to be over already.
