if you try to use your phone one handed, you tend to hold the phone around the bottom half and type with the thumb of the same hand.

When you do this and hold the phone around this area, anyone notice a wifi signal drop off around 50% ????

Hold the phone around the top of it and the signal picks back up again.

Sitting with the wifi analyser app from the market running at the same time on both my Razr & desire and its quite clearly demonstrating this.

Wonder if this is similar to the i-phone signal issue they had and the need for a bumper case and if a case would stop my hand coming into direct contact with that area thus helping the signal ????

Ohhh nooo! you said the 'i' word...'baaad apple'...lol. Are you noticing wi-fi disconnecting while simply holding the phone and not on a call or does it happen only when you are holding it up and on a call?

i'm wondering if your phone was designed to turn wi-fi off when a call is activated. Do you have your wi-fi advanced setting's sleep policy set to 'never'?

I dont see this. I even tried "death gripping" it somewhat...lol.

I use Wifi Analyzer too. Helped me determine I needed a new router earlier this year. Going by Wifi Analyzer it doesnt drop off on mine. Even going into my bedroom where the signal is weaker I see my signal rise n fall holding it and not holding it.

Weird, i'm using wifi analyser as well on two devices as I said, and I can notice the drop on the razr.

This isn't when on a call, just sitting in one position running the analyser

And sorry for mentioning the i word lol

I was hoping it would be as easy as some sort of Razr default, disabling wi-fi while on a call i guess thats ruled out. It wouldnt have made sense anyway since, on ATT the razr should be able to handle calls and surf net, etc (which you 'neeeed" wifi for decent browsing...)

What is our second device mentioned in your original post? Also check your Advanced Settings and change to "never sleep' and see if it still shuts down when you give it the 'death grip' like the other post read.. lol

(.. and welcome to ANDROID FORUMS! A Steve-Jobs-Free Society!!! just kidding!)
