Root Root for the R800x (and possible more!)

@Fuhrl: Right now this only roots the phone, to be able to load a custom rom, you need to unlock the bootloader. With a verizon phone, the only current option is to pay somebody to do it remotely. Currently, there are 2 people over in XDA-Developers who do it for about $25 apiece. Also: Yes, CM7 has a working version for CDMA (Check out xperia play -> android development threads for more info)

Thanks to DooMLoRD over in the Xperia X10/Arc/Play side at XDA-Developers.com, he has developed a batch file (windows only) that will run the root for you!

There isn't really any difference between the code he typed out and how you do it here, so head on over, download and root!

it's not really worth the money for me at this point. all i really wanted was to get rid of the bloatware which i was able to accomplish with the root (and the extra battery life i've seemed to have gotten is a nice bonus). i'll keep your suggestion in mind for the future though.

Trust me I understand Verizon is #1 when it comes to messing up a good thing my service sucks so at least they could let us tweak the phones but I had no problems with the D1,D2 or the DX2 and it wasn't a week after the D3 came out and boom its rooted but for some reason this phone is difficult or there is just not enough interest in it for anyone to tackle it don't get me wrong the phone is cool but I miss flashing roms and overclocking its driving me nuts

Exactly what bloatware did you get rid of fuhrl?

man, haha! i forgot what i took off already. i remember taking skype off. i think there was a couple of verizon branded apps as well like the verizon navigator. i'm pretty sure that i freed up about 70mb of space through deletion plus more when i used titanium backup to move other programs to the sd card.

Oh, ok I gotchya ;). Yah, I'd like to take off some of the at&t trash apps to speed things up. Probably would be best to just put cyogen on it or something...

oh, and i just moved all the pre-installed games over from internal memory to sd using titanium backup and just gained another 80mb. i had to convert them to a user app in order to move them.

To do that you'll have to pay somebody to unlock the bootloader (currently phones sold through providers cannot be unlocked through the unlockbootloader.sonyericsson.com website) and then flash the roms through fastboot.

There are two people on XDA-Developers who do unlocks for about $25...

for some reason all the pre-loaded games on my phone have disappeared. i went into titanium backup and they were crossed out like they were uninstalled. i can't find them anywhere on my sd card or phone. i don't know what happened exactly. i think it may have been a result of me moving them to sd through TB but all the other games that i have on the phone are still there. sucks.

i don't think i can. i checked both the verizon and SE websites. i found a version of one of the games and installed it but it force closes every time. i'm still searching for options though.

Goto xda-developers, and look at the state of development thread for the r800x, it has a link to download all the stock apps, so you can reinstall them

For system apps

If that fails, pm me and i'll get'em to you.
