***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

I just got off the phone with "Yathrib from the Executive Office of Verizon". It was a return call about the e-mails I had sent to John Bianchi (Vice President - National Customer Service). I don't know how Han got so lucky because I wasn't able to get anything out of the call.

1. I was told to wait. I could purchase a refurb phone or borrow one from a friend, but they were unwilling to do anything to help make the waiting easier.

2. It was my own fault that I was paying for a data plan that was not of much use on my current phone. I could have upgraded at any time (and be forced to wait that much longer for what I really wanted).

3. I would never be happy because there will always be some better thing right around the corner.

As far as the release of the Nexus goes, she went so far as to say that Verizon couldn't announce the phone because until there is an official announcement they don't even really know for sure that they WILL be getting the phone. When I pointed out that there had already been an official announcement from Verizon on that point, she kind of side-stepped. She did that a lot actually. I didn't get a clear response on the return policy either. I tried to point out that the return policy on their website did not jive with the CSR I had talked to saying that it was only on unactivated phones. I probably could have pushed harder, but I was trying to hold my tongue and keep the tone pleasant.

I have her phone number that she said I could call with any questions, but considering she didn't really answer any of the ones I asked today, I probably won't bother.

I just remembered though that she did at least promise to text me when the phone was released. I have a feeling I will know about it before her though (from reading this forum).

I would be amazed if she texted you. Please share and PM me if she does. Just for shiz and gigglez

Steven, you are always helpful, so do you have any thoughts on purchasing a phone through best buy? They have no restocking fee, so why aren't more people purchasing their "rentals" through best buy instead of verizon?

Here's a scenario....Best buy doesn't offer the Gnex at launch and you're stuck trying to get your upgrade restored.

I think everyone is making themselves crazy by putting their hopes onto different release dates... Personally I won't have the phone for another month, but I'd like to see a release ahead of that so any bugs (if there are any) can be worked out.

With that said, I would be willing to put a lot of my eggs in the December 8th basket. 32GB, $299, December 8th. I wouldn't count on an announcement or preorder until right around December 1st either. Just my two cents, although I'm not even sure it's worth that much. :p

On a separate note, the volume adjustment bug, hardware or software? I've seen conflicting reports... Some say hardware because it happens in boot loader also, some have said software and a fix is being worked on... Any thoughts?

After reading a review a the gnex on xda I have concluded that I wouldn't mind capacitive buttons on a phone that run ICS natively. The review mentioned that a) the Google Search Widget is lasted to the home screen; b) because the search widget is on the home screen and there is no software search button, one must back out to the home screen to perform a search. I for one love my search button and long-press of the search button for voice search so much (CyanogenMod, thank you btw) that I don't want to give it up for this phone. I think the HTC Zeta is yhr phone I will be getting...

You can return it through January 15, 2012. Source: Return Policy & Termination Fee | Verizon Wireless

And yeah, there's a $35 restocking fee unless you have problems with the phone. Yeah, you can immediately get a Nexus, that's the point.
Not to worry, you have until 1/15/2012 to return it for the Nexus.
Whoa, hold up. Last time I checked, the extended holiday return policy only applied to non-activated devices. Once you activate the phone, you have the standard 14 days to return it. The clause "All other provisions of Verizon Wireless

So nobody thinks the best buy ad is just wrong? I mean it's called the galaxy nexus, it's even on Verizon's and Google's sites. The "rumored" name for it was Nexus Prime, what's to say they put that in as a filler (same for the date) until they had something official.... I don't know, I'm not believing the Best Buy ad... And am just going to wait until we have something from Verizon about the Galaxy Nexus.

Also - 32 gb news is awesome! With photos and apps and hd videos I can see myself using quite a bit on it. Especially with such an awesome camera.

Rob - Thank you for your help, I don't expect anything from Verizon but seriously appreciate you stepping in and being an awesome host (for all us crazies). Keep up the great work! And you make me proud to be an androidforums.com member. :)

My plan is to return the razr after 10 days and go back to a flip phone until the nexus comes out. Why wouldn't my upgrade be restored once I return it?

If you're not super worried about the couple days I think you're alright. I've heard some people have said it's taken a couple days to get the upgrade restored.

Say it comes out on the 28th? If you're not worried about waiting till the 1st or 2nd to get it you're probably alright. I personally don't have experience with best buy. I'm just trying to bring up any reason you might want to wait.

Now another thing however, if it is still in testing, how can they even say "by year end?" IF they don't want to put out a date only to push it back when things don't go as expected, why even say, "by year end?" Personally, I think they can say "by year end" because there isn't anything technically holding it back and it is that they want the R phones to have their time to shine.

First time poster and been lurking for a while. I just wanted to say that this was my first thought too. I also thought that perhaps I was being a little too nit picky, but honestly you are right one of those statements is a lie on Vzw's part.

Anyways sorry my first post comes across as negative. I am psyched for this phone to release and also happy to see that the 16/32g question seems to be answered. I had gone to a Vzw corporate store to check out the Rezound just in case. Ok back to my corner I go:D.

Anyone have a comment on the best buy thing?

I can't figure out why so many are renting phones directly from verizon when you can do it with best buy with no restocking fee. What am I missing? I'm all dressed and ready to go to best buy, but want to make sure I'm not about to make a mistake.

I highly recommend purchasing through BB. As I mentioned many posts ago I only deal with BB and VZW telesales avoiding the poor service at my local VZW corporate store. I encourage you to cruise over and check it all out. I have had great luck with the buy back program when it was free, may be worth considering. I am premier silver so I get 45 days to return any purchase. This does not include any extension to the VZW 14 day contract policy, that still remains.

Good luck and let me know if you have any questions.

I'm pretty sure most of us know it won't be called the Nexus Prime... including P3:
