I thought you had to have a smart phone in order to hold the smartphone data plan?
You absolutely do NOT have to have a smartphone for the data plan. I have several coworkers who added the data package before unlimited ran out, and then added a smartphone later. One is patiently waiting for the GNex like us.

there's a Russian saying which roughly translates to: when is a poor person happy? When he loses something and then finds it again.

Its usually used to describe oneself as the poor person, happy for getting something they had in the first place. I don't know if you guys see the humor in this.
True, very true.

Does anyone else find it really infuriating that instead of giving us our Nexus, Verizon is for some reason still trying to sell the OG Galaxy Tab? LOLOLOLOLOL

And the fact that now they have two tabs on the homepage which are basically the same thing...?

P.S. I find it interesting how they dropped the Rezound ad but kept the RAZR ad... also I called my store tonight because I was somewhat considering jumping off the ledge (I decided not to) and they said they had plenty of Rezounds but no RAZRs left.

Just got back from my local Verizon store tonight. I actually went to check out the Razr and Rezound for the first time, and I was impressed with both. But the Rezound just stood out more to me, it was very quick and that screen is gorgeous. Anyways, I talked to the store manager just out of curiosity and mentioned the Galaxy Nexus (or Prime now?) and he told me the date was December 1st. I asked how sure that was and he told me he just got word today on it. He was taking down names and giving calls if it comes sooner which is possible he said. Just thought I d pass this own guys......

I am thinking either do Chief's Swappa thing, or Ebay, get something cheap to tide you over! :)

Yeah, we'll just do Craigslist -- lots of Pre and Pixis out there for cheap.

On the bright side, if the Nexus had released last Thursday, maybe IT would be slathered in hot oil instead of the Palm!

Hm, did he say how he got word on it exactly? Corporate email or just word of mouth? I'm obsessed with the specifics ;)

True, it's just curious how a rumored name will redirect you while the real name doesn't. If you put in "Droid RAZR" or "ReZound" You get redirected to their respective pages. It's just an odd inconsistency. :)

When things are first being designed, they usually have some sort of codename. It's just a placeholder so internally it can be referenced. When the design goes to market, it gets a name, which is thought of by the finest marketing people $1.98 will buy. :p

The codename for this was Nexus Prime. So it doesn't really surprise me that Verizon still has some logic built in to redirect the page. But it's all offical now, it will only be called the Galaxy Nexus.

Well they probably still have a warehouse of them. Maybe that's the problem, the Tab is taking up the warehouse space for the GNex. Quick, everyone buy a Tab, they will start the Gnex presale tomorrow... Ok probably not ;)

Actually, the TECHNICAL codename is "Maguro". But that's not very well-known.

Dunno if anyone here has said this...

Someone over at AC just pointed out that is you search Verizon's site for "Galaxy Nexus" you get a results pages with the Nexus banner up top, but if you search "Nexus Prime" you get redirected straight to the sign-up page. Interesting.

You're right, it does... hm...
There are two possible options here

1) They never changed the code name on the Verizon site
2) The Verizon exclusive will be called some variant of "Nexus Prime" or "Galaxy Nexus Prime" while the worldwide/GSM version will be simply "Galaxy Nexus"

Actually there's a third option:
3) Verizon hasn't settled on the name either, and they're having board meetings 24/7 debating which name is preferable

I almost wish this phone had been called the Droid Nexus or something with Droid in it for Verizon's version because then maybe it would be out by now!
I don't think many have a good understanding why some models get the droid moniker.

I'm sure it's contractural in nature. It gets called Droid, and Verizon gets to call the shots, or something like that.
