Who regrets upgrading to gingerbread?

Just wondering if anyone wished they were still running Froyo? And why?
I have not made the switch yet myself. I like the way my phone runs now, how much better could it be?
Thanks

God no.

So far...
- The phone doesn't reboot when waking the screen whilst playing music
- The battery lasts longer
- The phone picks up a data connection correctly when wifi has been on for a long time (overnight or longer) and is switched off; with Froyo I had to switch in and out of airplane mode
- The phone is more responsive
- I can create filtered app drawers hiding the cr@p that Orange UK / Motorola added that I never use..
- The MotoBlur email checker doesn't hang when stuck on a non-responsive data cell (used to hang and gradually eat up to 20% CPU, reporting 'no data connection' even when connected to wifi subsequently until killed).
- Generally more responsive.

That's what springs to mind after 4 days.

I'm still hankering after a pure Nexus phone again though; I should never have sold my N1 and bought the Atrix in the first place. Ah buyers remorse

CodeMonkey

None of the problems you described, have I ever experienced. I am happy with the battery life, smoothness of the phone, basically to me, it runs fine. The only issue I have is that 1 out of 50 trys it goes slow when accessing my bookmarks in the browser. I would like the app drawer feature though.
I guess I keep coming back to the saying "If it's not broke, don't fix it"

I regret it. I don't remember my phone having 1random reboot before. Now it reboots daily. And occasionally locks up requiring a battery pull. Something else that didn't happen on Froyo.

This is more what I expected to hear. Hope you resolve your problems. I guess I will stay with Froyo for now. I was hoping that there would have been a small fix by now. No luck yet

I have my Atrix, as well as 3 others to keep up with (My fiance and both of her kids).

All 4 of us had many of the issues CodeMonkey mentions on FroYo. Since updating all 4 phones to GB, I can tell you that it makes the phone like new.

You say "If it's not broke, don't fix it." There are enough improvements in GB over FroYo that you don't realize how "Broke" some things are until they are working right.

I don't regret the update. I just wish they would push out the 2.3.5 update with the newer version of MotoBlur that they are shipping on the Atrix2.

I've had my Atrix since April. I put off doing the upgrade, because of the problems some reported. (I didn't want to do a factory reset after upgrading.) Back in Sep., I saved the upgrade to my SD card to upgrade later. (Thinking I wouldn't do it next year and didn't want to miss out.) Well, I was kinda forced to upgrade a few days ago. (I accidentally hit the down load button when the reminder popped up.) Well, I must say, I really like Gingerbread. Its like I have a whole new phone and I didn't have to do a factory reset. I have not had any problems losing contacts or apps. Bluetooth and wifi works. Finger print scanner works and battery life seems a bit longer. Proximity sensor works fine and the phone is much faster, even with using ADW Launcher. (Down load speeds are over 5 mps down and over 1 mps up.) I noticed that it manages the running apps better too. Before, I would have around 200 MB of RAM. Now its around 300 MB of RAM. The only issues I have seen, is the battery percentage jumping every now and then. (I’m doing a complete drain and power off full charge to correct this.) The audio, when streaming Pandora, sometimes gets choppy when I am scrolling in another app when just waking up the phone.

I will report back after a week of using it. I still have to try it in the lapdock.

Thanks, I will be waiting for your future posts on your experience with gingerbread. Any issues with your music files or the gallery?

I know you weren't asking me, but I just wanted to note. These are the 2 worst parts of the GB update. They RUINED the stock music and gallery apps. I mean, USELESS.

However, I've always used PowerAmp for music. Even on FroYo, I found it BLEW the stock music app away. Yeah, it's $5, but worth 100 times that! I lay in be and listen to music most nights to unwind from the day and Love it.

As for the gallery, I just use QuickPik and love it. Many more features. And, it's free, that never hurts!

We think alike. I have been using PowerAmp Pro and QuickPic since on Froyo. No problems with either.

I had no problems w/ Froyo the phone was amazing, I never had any random reboots & the speed seemed good. I wasn't using data then, and I had launcher pro & everything was frozen w/ titanium backup so I could go 2 days without charging.
With GB I get random reboots when I listen to music, but I'm satisfied with the phone it is a bit smoother than before & it loads everything quicker. I use my data connection for e-mails now, and without fail even without making calls it will be down to 20% by the end of the day. It doesn't bother me too much since I'm not a power user. I have laucher pro on it but I don't know what to freeze since I upgraded. My gallery started using alot of data as well. But Overall I don't regret GB.

4201746[/URL]]When I first got my Atrix, it recorded video at 1080p. I was in awe, and loved it. As soon as the first OTA update came out, poof, it was lowered to 720p. Did anyone else notice that, or is it just me?

Not sure how you did this, but the Atrix 4G was never able to record higher then 720p. (It was suppose to be able to record 1080p after the GB update.) You can play back 1080p though. There are more camera and video settings with the GB update that are really helpful to produce better picture quality.
