5 days and 22 hours to go! :D

Congrats everyone on hitting yet another milestone: 58k posts and 1.3 Million views!

I find it amusing that before there would be a flurry of posts around 1k's but since the directive. it almost stops. Its almost like everything is sitting there hitting F5 trying to get "the" post with out spamming :p

Can you guys imagine how productive we'll be after next week? I don't know about you guys, but I can't play with my phone during work that much; forum chatter is a lot easier to pass off while using my computer.

Our lives will certainly change.

Hell, it's bad enough I'll have a 64GB T Prime to try to avoid drooling on after the GNex arrives. I think I'll be quite distracted with those, the holidays, some gaming, catching up on comics, and testing Windows 8. And that's just in the spare time when I'm not relaxing with my wife. :D

Crap, I suppose I have to work as well! LOL! Thank goodness I took the week between Christmas and New Year's off. This is the last time we'll have 3-day weekends for those holidays for a while. 10 days off to play with gadgets.... Bliss. :)

Oh this is going to be a long day.. I was supposed to be off but a co-worker became a new daddy so I told him to enjoy his new bundle of guacamole and not worry about work. I did all of my work yesterday... so now there is really nothing to do except reload this page time and time again.

You get bonus karma points for this though.

Do you know if the stock camera app on the SGN has these settings? If not, do you know of another app that does?

I'm sure it has WB, flash on/off, metering (center, frame average, center weighted), ISO, and a little exposure compensation (I'm going off my CM7 Inc). There are a few apps in market where you can pimp out your camera though :D

Noticed I said lighting 1st in my earlier comment. Knowledge of it in photography is priceless

At this point, if you REALLY care about photography, you'll just go ahead and get a DSLR with a 1.4 prime, f/2.8 18-55, and 70-300. I sure do enjoy my T3i :). That being said, I don't think anyone is going to be taking wedding photos to be put in an album with this phone.

Yeah..no weddings will be shot...well, we'll see, lol. I think I saw a while back where someone shot an entire wedding with an iPhone 4. Results were nice too. It was an extremely talented photographer though...talented/creative photographers can take surprisingly good pictures with just about anything.

That being said, aperture on phone cameras are important for indoor shots to have less motion blur and camera shake. That was my main point in the discussion. The Nexus should be pretty good.

Very fortunate (or unfortunate, depending on how you look at it) that this coincides with the least busy time of year for me. After Christmas, I start getting busy again, so a pre-Christmas release is crucial for my continued employment. Every day I tell myself "I'm not even going to log in." But I'm like a crack head fresh out of rehab...."I'll just check once." And then one hit turns into three...and before you know it, the forum is on my second screen all day, and I'm carefully making sure I minimize before I leave my desk to go to the bathroom. I'm not proud of this, by the way. But I've accepted it.

I think this is a little exaggerated, depending on the lens an f2.8 is sure not a dog at 50mm. Yes, compared to primes at 1.0/1.2 for twice the price and absolutely no versatility in zoom length. But for 99.999% of the world, I am sure f/2.8 for all zoom ranges will do just fine.
Not talking about zooms, talking about primes. But you're right if we're looking at zoom like a 28-70mm

In the last 2 weeks I've ordered the spiderpodium mount, a MHL adapter, extra HDMI cable, and TPU case. I also "lent" the spiderpodium mount to my mom and she said she likes it so much that I won't be getting it back (worked great in her 2005 Subaru Legacy and also a rental car), so I'll have to figure out if I want to get another one or let someone else get me something for Christmas... decisions decisions. I can't believe that in less than a week we "should" all have a Galaxy Nexus. :)

Yes, but Frank Miller's Dark Knight books and the animated movies (nor even the New Frontier graphic novels) are considered canon to the mainstream DC Universe. Those fall under the Hypertime/Mulitverse umbrella and aren't in the mainstream history. I've been reading this stuff for the past 30 years and just sold 47 boxes of my comics. Longtime DC/Marvel/Valiant/Image/Dark Horse/etc fan, hence my avatar. :D I love the animated movies, but they alter a number of things from the comic. But the Dark Knight and Dark Knight Returns will always be two of the best. Frank Miller's short recent (but way too short) All Star Batman & Robin series was excellent as well, featuring great moments like this:

LOL!

You got me dead to rights, I haven't been alive 30 years, much less reading anything but the back of my eyelids for that long. I digress

Scary, sounds like my clone is posting on behalf of me right now

Yes, lighting is SO overlooked, and I would say is the #1 factor in regards to quality, especially in "smartphone photography."

Jealous. I'm going to have to wait on the TP if the 8th holds up for the SGN. My wife is NOT going to let me plunk down another $500.

Unless my boss gives me a ridiculous bonus this year. But judging from my productivity (or lack thereof) the last 3 months, that isn't likely.

They keep telling me at work that I am using my phone too much. I then tell them if they didn't restrict my internet then i wouldn't need my phone.
That being said I probably will be slightly more productive once I have the phone for a couple days.

Um, no. f2.8 on a 50mm is a dog. f1.0 1.2 or 1.4 is fast 1.8 is pretty good and will cost you less than $100 new or about $60 used. A 1.4 is about $300-400. I'm talking about Canon EF lenses. If you have an SLR do yourself a favor and pickup a "nifty fifty f1.8 used" for little money and enjoy your new found bokeh. You'll thank me later.:D

I will drop the issue. But f2.8 on a 50mm is not a fast lens. And that is all I have to say about that.

I knew this in my mind but had no justification to prove it so I just let it slide. However, f/2.8 is f/2.8 no matter what the focal length. Aperture is calculated by the focal length divided by the diameter of the pupil. So if your focal length goes up, the diameter has to go up as well in order to maintain the same aperture.
