Root ICS port for the bionic

Yeah, I saw his tweet last night to P3Droid, and asked him to verify it was indeed an AOSP built ICS written for the D3 (by P3 I think) that he ported to the BIONIC with no mods and on the first try and it booted fine.

He answered me, then posted this: Twitter

Then he posted this: Twitter

And then DF blew up by adding it as a new ROM for the BIONIC. See [ROM] [Alpha] Ics4Bionic Preview 11-28-2011

Doesn't boot for me. Tried it 3 times now. Did a complete wipe of data/cache/dalvik/ and formatted system.

I think this works better if you use the safestrap, as he wrote in his post - are you using safestrap to try it out?

BTW, Dhacker has moved to Alpha 4, and is calling this
ICS 4.0.1_rc1

I loaded it up (with Safestrap) and checked it out. Booted right up, and although it doesn't to much yet, it holds great promise.

These devs are amazing. I can barely tie my shoes, and look at what they can accomplish practically overnight. Android would not be what is has become without the dev community. They never cease to amaze me!

Yup installed safestrap immediatley before I tried it. I also tried flashing the first Alpha build. So Ive tried Alpha 1, 3, and 4 all multiple times. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. :( I found the ICS launcher app though, thats keeping me happy for now haha.

Boot into safestrap and switch to safe mode - i'd recommend making a nandroid backup before you switch to safe mode just in case. Wipe the system/dada/cache/dalvik partitions of your safe mode OS and install alpha 1.

Reboot and let alpha 1 boot. It might crash or get errors or something.

Reboot again into safestrap and install the alpha 5 zip. This is the latest as of now.

Reboot again into alpha 5.

Right now they've eliminated most of the force closes and have support for internal and external SD card mounting. None of the radios except bluetooth work and the camera does not work yet. It's still a very nice preview of how ICS will run on our Bionics though.

Supposedly on their internal builds they have got the radios to work but not connect to the network. All of this is very promising for us to have a functioning, daily-use ICS ROM soon.
