Called my local Costco... had them look up that sku # (right before they closed - west coast). That is the sku # for it. But no date set for my Costco.

Then Verizon learns their lesson; if you're in the final stage of preparing a phone for release, there's no turning back. Once you've given even one tiny bit of "ready to sell", stores will jump on that and it will be sold. Verizon made a huge mistake.

Overall, this launch has been sort of a mess in retrospect.

so can anyone tell me what is to stop radio shack or BB or costco for just selling the thing even if verizon says no? I mean they have it sitting there on the stockroom floor....

Ironically - I did actually stop by Radio Shack when I was at the mall tonight. The guy said he had his training on it yesterday. He actually brought it out from the back to prove it.

However the conversation basically stopped there because he didn't have any information on the actual release. I told him what the forums were saying today and he said the sooner the better as it's the one he's waiting for, too.

It's no news what-so-ever, but a tangible person did have one at a secondary resell place like RS.



I also stopped into Best Buy and the guy told me their process was to get a dummy plastic phone then get a test phone and they haven't received ANYTHING yet. I was a bit surprised to hear that. He was very candid with me about BB's process.

As you can see - I was doing my research while Christmas Shopping. I just find it annoying when everyone has an individual story. Since mine doesn't really offer any new news, I don't think it's informative enough to go on. At least when you asked, i felt my story could at least be shared. That was tonight at 6:00PM EST

There are a small amount of people who just dont care. I am not sure how the activation works, but your really just activating a sim card? If this works the same way ATT sims work, there may be no way to stop the activations, especially if upgrading from another 4g device.

My point is if this thing does not release Friday, there is a HUGE HUGE HUGE chance that phones will be in the hands of people on this board and they will be using them!

Dual monitoring is the greatest. I used to do Call of Duty and then forums on the other the screen.

Real men use 3 monitors. Email, web browser, misc (games, movies, etc).

I however am not a real man since my video card only supports two displays

No, don't do this guys. Why are you trying to drag everyone down with us? P3Droid was one of the BEST devs for my OG Droid, I STILL use his stuff.... Now we ran him off. Guys, come on, be patient. Yes it sucks, but we dont need to burn every bridge we come by. The phone will be out soon, only a few more days.

Make no mistake.... We were all glad and appreciative for what he did, but let this be a lesson to all of us; When you get too big for your britches, someone will yank them down in front of everyone. If vzw had the esn's locked then even activating the sim will not work.

So after talking to my rep at the corporate store and the guy who has sold me 2 phones early in the past at an authorized retailer I kind of gave up today..

But.. with all of the talk of people still getting info I called the other authorized retailer who has a rep I visited on Sunday and luckily he was there. (AZ time, they close at 9 so I just caught him)

He said I can either come in Friday or come in tomorrow and he will pre-order it through VZW and it will ship to the store.. Now how in the heck would he know that for sure if he called customer service for me, tomorrow, that I could get it done. Seems like VZW, with all of their cracking down on leaks and threatening people's jobs has gotten through but I just think its to much of a coincidence that..

1. Meeting in the morning at all corporate stores
2. Employees are taking Galaxy's home (that means they are getting familiar with the phone so they can show clients the features and is a regular practice)
3. Stores have stock
4. Stores have accessories
5. Rep's are telling people and hinting at Friday
6. We've heard the soft launch ideas (including the poster on reddit who claimed this long before our "delay" today and was the 1st time I heard the idea)
7. People are walking into corporate stores and letting customers see and hold the device

I could probably keep going but im just trying to go off of factual events and information people are posting. It really does seem like, with Verizon's silence and all the things pointing to an end of the week "silent" release that we just might be able to walk in on Friday and buy it without a big press release or anything. Or maybe the morning of we see an official announcement on the site but people were even saying a couple weeks ago that there would be no preorder and no advertising really.

It looks like Verizon is doing just what they wanted to accomplish and have a "soft launch". Just my 2 cents and really trying to put together all the information I have gathered from this thread and other sites throughout the past couple weeks.

I share these sentiments. In addition to the above, has anyone noticed that there hasn't been much rumbling in the regular tech blogs (Eng, Giz, etc., etc.) about the 12/9 rumors? I think there was one or two quickie posts yesterday, but radio silence since. It's almost as if Verizon sent a polite request to the more news-oriented blogs to keep the gossip to a minimum so that they could have the silent launch...

About the only blog that appears to have much traffic at all that is stirring the pot is Droid Life. I like that site, but it's hardly a news site, it's a gossip rag. How many leaks can Kellen post to generate traffic for his ad hits to go up? I think we're finding out...

Personally, unless I get an email from Verizon saying that it isn't launching this Friday, I will be at my 9 a.m. appointment to see if the phone is available for sale to me. If it isn't, I'll just wait. I've been using an OG Droid for the past 18 months until a few weeks ago, when I went ahead and purchased a used Bionic to get me off the Nexus Salivation Train a little bit until it actually comes out. I reckon I'll just sell the Bionic at a little loss and consider it a rental.
