***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

I know very few people want the XYBoard piece of garbage...however, let's evaluate how it can be helpful to us. Did they ever announce an official release date? I heard rumors of today, but nothing official (I could have missed it)...however it proves that they will launch a device with little to no fanfare...here's hoping for the Nexus!

There was a press release a day or so before.

before we all continue to go pitchforks and torches on VZW, has anyone stopped to think that maybe WE caused the delay? WHAT IF this phone always had the plan to be a soft launch. no pr, no real advertising, etc. but after such HUGE responses from the Nexus Faithful, VZW decided to hold up to get tons and tons of advertisement ready for this phone because they now see what kind of demand there is for it and wants to push it hard.

Isn't there some kind of hostage theory or something where the victims start blaming themselves?

Stay strong - it's their doing, 100%. ;)

I was told last night by a Verizon Store manager that they are under strict orders to not show any demo units. He even told me they had 1 in the back, and that something regarding a demo unit being shown off was reason for the delay.....he was telling me everything straight up, so not sure what reason he'd have to lie.

So because someone showed a demo unit, the entire national launch has been delayed. I gotta get outta here...I've heard it all now. I didn't know they allowed VZW store managers to drink so early!

It will probably also get the guy who sold it to you fired. People should keep that in mind. I said this in a post before, but if there were some concerned about getting people fired by simply having them spill the beans on release dates, just imagine the trouble they'll get in when it's found out they sold the phone prior to release.

Please do not give any information about where you received it however! There, is that better?

So, according to Verizon, 15th is the new date. Checked with a few stores who were taking my name down. FWIW, they would not take my name down for the 9th release before but they had a list going this time.

I wouldn't use that as a tried and true sign. I had an appointment on Monday for a GNEX today.. Of course all that went to crap Weds

Yeah, who knows.....it's just what he was telling me. Perhaps a bug was found during a demo or something, but more than likely Verizon got butt hurt about not getting to control the release how they saw fit.

I hope them getting upset over launch isn't the reason bc we will always get the date leaked to us first, just like we r being told next week now, so if that caused the delay, they will just keep delaying until they have to release it on 12/31 since they already said they'd release it this year. Ugh, I hate vzw right now

Stopped at the Corporate store that let me play with the Nexus on Wednesday. They denied having the phone. I told them that I played with it Wednesday and the CSR on Wednesday said there were lots of them in the back room. She said let me rephrase then. We don't have any that we can sell today. It is not launching today. I left.

I went down the road to a premium retailer. The guy there was much more friendly. He said he doesn't have any in but his truck is due after 10. He took my number and said he would call me if they come in.

On to the next corporate store.

I tweeted it!

Same here.

People don't understand. If they want news, force their hand. Make this a trending topic. Make sure your voice is heard. This is 2011 and almost 2012. Social media is the new way to go for these companies. Post on their FB wall. Tweet a few things. Get the ball rollin'

Or sit back and complain. Nothing will change that way.

Nothing. We are in the dark just as much as ever. Grrrrrr.

Well, For my fellow Buffalonians I just called 3 Corp VZ stores. Two of them (Niagara Falls Blvd, and Walden Ave) are saying 12/15 (Next Thursday) is CONFIRMED. The NFB one simply said it's coming next Thurs. and they have no stock.

But, when I called the walden store, he initially said it was delayed and they don't have a date, then someone in the background said something, he asked them what they said and he told me it was "just OFFICIALLY moved to next thurs" and it must have just happened recently because he hadn't known about it yet. He told me they DO have stock, but would not tell me how many and also that I couldn't see it yet and told me to be sure to be there at 9:00am thursday AM.

If my fellow Upstate and WNY'ers remember, these is a HUGE improvement over Wednesday's "We know nothing" statements!

15th should be the day , they are launching a bunch of LTE startups that day in NH where i am at so that is great :)

I would not doubt it though if we see it go live today sometime with everything available tomorrow in store.

1. The phones are at the stores.
2. Verizon is waiting for a google update most likely
3. once released they announce and sell..

FWIW: I stopped at the local corporate store and asked if they had any info on the Nexus. (Now up until this point they have had absolutely no information regarding the device except that they had received some accessories.) The manager said he thinks it will come out mid-month and that he is hearing the 15th. He told me to come back Monday and he would have more info for me.

Hey guys,

I'm late to this party but wanted to join in since I've been "lurking" on this forum for the past 24 hours, frustrated as everyone else.

I owned an iPhone 4 for about a year, then picked up the Droid X2, and switched back to an iPhone 4S. I had an internal debate going on inside - I liked how open Android was. I liked that I could flash a ROM, that I could install pretty much anything I wanted, and I liked that the entire look of Android could be customized to my heart's content. On the other hand, my screen was terrible, Gingerbread felt like a beta product, and even overclocking my Droid X2 resulted in lagging.

iOS, on the other hand, was fast. I knew what I was getting. And one of the most important things to me, the screen on the iPhone 4 and 4S is phenomenal.

BUT, I'm a tech geek. I like to fiddle. I like to play around with my phone and have full control and I have ZERO control with the iPhone. Even if I jailbreak I have little control over the way it looks and acts. It's still an iOS device at the end of the day and I'm ready to get a pure Google phone.

So I've been following Droid-Life and dying for the Nexus to get here. I got all excited about being able to put my iPhone 4S up for sale today and purchase a Nexus and then we got that horrible news saying it was delayed. Again.

It's making me really frustrated to the point where I'm almost ready to ditch Verizon, get T-Mobile or AT&T and get the GSM Galaxy Nexus. I just don't understand why it's taking so long for Verizon to release a phone that has no issues anywhere else.

I mean, if it's LTE issues, they shouldn't be selling Rezounds, Razrs etc, right?

If it's Google Wallet, we should be able to just receive that in an OTA update.

The volume bug is fixed.

So what's going on? Why is it taking so long? All I want is this phone. I don't want a crappy Razr with horrible Motoblur and locked bootloader. I don't want a Rezound with HTC Sense and a locked bootloader. I want my pure Google, 4G LTE experience and I'm so frustrated by this whole experience.

Thankfully you guys have been able to keep me relatively sane over the last 24 hours. It's good to know I'm not the only one freaking out here.

Anyways, there's my story. Glad to finally be joining in on the conversation rather than just watching it!

Maybe some expensive DSLRs that also shoot video, but the reputable, dedicated camcorders are using CCD sensors that capture a whole image, write it, capture another image, write it, etc., preventing this effect.

It's only the CMOS cameras that read a line at a time that have this problem.

(And as far as I know, CCDs for whatever practical limitation don't get put in cell phone cameras, so it's not as if that was an option.)

I would certainly not use the term 'reputable' in describing the camcorders that only use CCD as opposed to CMOS. They each have their advantages. Many pro and semi-pro camcorders use CMOS sensors and produce gorgeous, largely artifact-free images.

I'll give you an example. Two of the most highly touted (and probably the best out there today according to independent pro reviews and owner's feedback) camcorders, the Canon XA10 that I own and the Canon HF G10 use CMOS sensors and do, to some degree, have this effect. It's relatively easy to avoid and many people never see it even when it's there.

But few people stay away from CMOS imagers just because of fear of the jello effect.
