For those claiming Radio Shack isn't helpful, for most cases, it isn't because they don't want to be, they are just out of the loop. I got lucky and talked to the manager when I asked about it and he knew about the phone and had read the e-mail on when the shipment was coming. He received the shipment and saw the ensuing e-mail to lock it up and not sell till further notice. However, he did let it out of the cage and let me unbox it on Friday when I stopped by to make sure he could upgrade me.

Just got off the phone with a VZW rep in Loyalty dept, he said he knew nothing about the promo. :-(

When I asked if I could do an early upgrade (I am eligible Feb. 2nd) he said they most they can play around with that is within 30 days of the upgrade.

Retention dept will let you upgrade. They don't want to lose a customer, threaten to leave and you will be surprised what they do.

I've been waiting to upgrade since the 2nd of December.. This is getting ridiculous..... I've called 3 local Verizon Stores and its like they've read how to respond from a email. "Its Been Pushed Back".... One CSR said, its actually been pushed back 2x now. I'm giving up on this week as well. If it were coming out on the 15th, I feel like they would have a)nexus in stock, and b)they'd know about it being released. They should know something by now. It just feels like Verizon doesn't want to sell this phone.

Soft. I've been up for a NE2 since LAST AUGUST! As in....a year and a half. Man up and wait it out.

I had gotten the sense that the guy at RS wasn't being smug or mean, I really think he just didn't know. Perhaps didn't care either, but really seemed like he didn't know.

Ugh, well that call to *611 couldn't have gone worse.

First, I asked about the 3G to 4G upgrade discount, and, after telling me that yes, I can upgrade my phone from 3G to 4G (obviously I can), then told me that she saw the $100 discount - and wasn't running anymore.

When she asked if I had any more questions, I said I did, but wouldn't bother her with the same questions about the Nexus that she had probably been asked about 20 times already today. She said that actually she hadn't been asked about it (I guess we haven't completely penetrated the depths of Verizon Customer Service...giggity) and that she hadn't seen it or know about it (really?). She then said hang on a second, and I got my hopes up that I would finally have information first hand to believe in. She then came back on and said that her colleague heard her mention the Nexus, and that it wouldn't be available until the first of the year, at least on Verizon. At that point I was dumbfounded, and dehydrated from all the salt, and after saying I hoped she was wrong, hung up. She went through her pitch of signing up for updates, of which there are none of course, so it looks like not everyone is on the same page within Verizon - or some just don't care and are telling us when it is out while others stick to the company line. Anyone else get someone who says it isn't coming? Or am I the only lucky one?

I thought this way too until this summer when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. It doesn't run in the family. I am the first so you can imagine my shock when after years of pretty much perfect health I was given this diagnosis. Just thought you should know never to rule out the unexpected even beyond freak accidents. BTW I am cancer free now. Thank goodness!

Never rule out the unexpected. Prepare for the worst, is what I say. Happy to hear you're healthy :)

I was talking to an upgrades guy about getting the $100 off added back to my account, and after he said that he couldn't because it's only for business accounts, I mentioned canceling my line on Thursday whether or not the phone comes out. He said "which phone?" and "It's funny how you know when it's coming out and I don't".

Well I tried to get the 100 dollar off coupon, but my CSR said I do not qualify, but then said "hold on one second"......


...."OK I did get managers approval to move your upgrade date, so just use your new upgrade when you purchase it."

She made my day!

EDIT: She was this sweet southern sounding lady who asked me if I was interested in the RAZR today. I said I wanted to use both in person. She said "well honey I don't blame you. That's the one with the ice cream sandwich, yeah, yeah we just had a class on it. Any day now!"

I had the same thing happen to me with the promo...he said "yes it can be applied to your account" and then I asked him to place a note on the account and he comes back saying "oh, its only for the midwest, sorry".

As for the date of release, this guy also seemed clueless and had to put me on hold again for 5 minutes only to come back with "we dont know when that will be released". I think some CSRs really are just that out of the loop. I wouldn't worry about that.

As for those still calling stores who say they don't know and they have no stock, they're lying! The stores have stock, they know when the target date is, they aren't allowed to say. I just got off the phone with the Verizon store that is located in the same city where Radio Shack got stock last Thursday. I called twice and got two different reps, one male, one female. The female stuttered around and eventually said she didn't know and when I asked if they had stock in, she stuttered like she didn't know what to do, faked like she was looking it up but she didn't pause long enough and blurted out no stock. The male CSR fed me the same BS about not knowing when and to sign up for more info on the website and they had no clue when it would be released. I then asked him if they had stock and he said no. I then let him know I wasn't playing and that the Radio Shack in the same town had stock on Thursday last week and I had actually unboxed and looked at one. He stuttered after that and said "Even if we did have stock I couldn't tell you how many we have" LOL!!

Just goes to show you, these stores know, they've been placed under a gag order and alot are still following that order. Since this particular store won't play ball, I won't be doing business with them. I'm going to Radio Shack eventhough I know I won't get a discount there.
