If your keyboard slider is damaged/broken just from simply being used (not counting mild trauma of, say, being in your pocket and getting jostled around), bring it in and tell the techs to replace it under warranty. I love Sprint because they've always been good about replacing their failed devices, under warranty or not. Its why I won't leave, they've got the best plans, and they always hook me up.
I'll admit, I was nervous at first about the slider thing. The slight amount of play even irritated me at first. But then I went into Best Buy, played with the abused and beat-up display sliders, and realized just how bad it could get.
I was recently thinking about taking my Moment back for a Hero for that reason. That'd be the only reason - that the moving parts in the keyboard are a liability. I even went to said Best Buy to try to play around with a demo (never got the chance, line was too long). But when I left, I thought about the pros and cons.
1. The keyboard may be a liability, but DAMN if it ain't awesome. I make virtually no mistakes typing now, and it feels great. Not like the virtual keyboard I had on the Instinct. Plus, playing emulated games is fantastic when they're full screen with a keyboard.
2. The flash on the camera works great. Why the hell would a manufacturer leave the flash out of some models? Hero has 5mp, but multiple reviews say the Moment's pictures are more impressive (I can at least say I'm impressed, without comparing).
3. Android 2.1 will soon be available for the Moment
4. The Hero has Sense, which I've yet to check out but keep reading great things about, but I myself installed Open Home and haven't seen the stock Android interface for awhile now.
5. The Hero looks and feels build well. It has a housing that I wish more manufacturers would go with. It looks like it could take a fall like a champ.
6. The Moment can take a fall like a champ too. My wife's did, smack onto the pavement and even made a tiny ding on the top (despite the protective "case" I put on it) and believe it or not her screen has less play when wiggled than mine, which has never taken a fall like that *knock on wood*.
7. The Moment has a proximity sensor. What does the Hero do for calls when the screen is against someone's cheek? Just curious.
8. Everyone talks crap about the Hero's processor compared to the Moment's, and I get it - they're both the archaic Arm 11 architecture. Yes the Moment's has a faster clock speed but I firmly believe the Hero's is fast enough. Its all about software optimization. The iPhone is smooth as glass with its execution, and it's processor isn't as powerful as the Hero. Imagine the Moment after a few good updates, though.
