That is a good point, and has been done before with other types of pre-release hardware; good thought.

I personally think they do it to whip the Android forum users into a frenzy... :D

Amen. I could see that. By now, they pretty much know that phones will get caught on camera and leaked on the net. Perhaps those in testing just are physical decoys until the full monte can be revealed.

This is what Best Buy has planned:

"The Devour will retail for $99 starting on February 25th, but the Droid will also be dropped to $99, and the Droid Eris is going to be free from Big Blue. Meanwhile, Verizon is sticking to its $149 pricetag at its own stores, which involves a $100 rebate."

That's straight from Best Buy's facebook page.

The Droid and Eris prices are already effective. Go check BB's website. They were like that yesterday, too, so they've already dropped those prices.
It makes sense to me that price drops would be in effect around a month or so before another big release. This would prevent customers from returning within the 30 day period, no? (unless that's just for VZW?) So maybe we are looking at the end of March, which isn't terribly out of line compared with the rumors that have been floating around from the beginning.

Don't know if you saw this yet,( I am still pretty new to this forum). Droid for $49.00. You think Verizon is trying to clear out inventory.

While I agree that it just doesn't seem feasible for Big Red to release a phone on March 7, what about this... On one of the forums someone quoted HTC as having committed to releasing 5 new Android phones in the U.S. in the first half of the year. The N1 takes 1 of the 5 in theory, if HTC considers it one of their own devices, and not a Google device. Maybe they don't. Anyhow, would it be out of the question for the Incredible to be released to compete with the Moto BackFlip on AT&T. Then at CTIA, the big release info would be the U.S. version of the Bravo/Desire. It just seems to me that with the first half of the year being over in four months, these phones are going to have to start coming out at some point...

I am wondering, is that 5 devices for the U.S. market or World wide? I still believe that we should hear something at the CTIA about the Incredible. In my opinion the Bravo/ Desire = Incredible for Verizon.

But the Bravo/Desire doesn't look like the incredible, why does everyone keep saying that the verizon desire is the incredible. Is it because of the T-mobile road map?...based on the leaked pics and video, the Incredible looks more in line with the styling of the legend

A Droid that is only $49 after NE2 will be very tempting especially w/o any pending news of the Incredible.

It doesnt make sense for VZW to carry the Incredible, N1, AND the Desire. Seeing as that the Desire basically is the N1 and the Incredible is so similar in features (supposedly) to the Desire; consumers would be too confused about the minute differences internally between all three phones. Not everyone who walks into the Verizon store is tech savy like the members of this wonderful forum.

That's exactly what I think. I, personally, don't believe that Verizon will ever get the Desire. I think the Nexus One will be available in a CDMA variant and will work on Verizon's network and I think we'll get the Incredible. I also happen to think that the Incredible will be a better phone than the Desire, as far as specs go. That's just my personal opinion. We'll just have to wait and see.

I certainly hope you are correct when it comes to the specs. I have a question for you:

If the Incredible comes and has less than 512 RAM would you purchase it? Or would you consider purchasing an N1 and rooting it for the desire ROM?

Does anyone remember this picture? It was leaked in September of last year, and everyone thought the Desire was the Droid Eris. Now we know what the Desire is, could this point to a possible release on Verizon? Or is the Desire a name for 2 different phones?

i know this is my first post so people will probably come out and call BS on me (i read these boards regularly) but I have a buddy who got an semi-concrete answer straight from a HTC rep. Incredible will be in US in April on VZ. They also noted it was scheduled for a march release, but just recently got pushed back (didn't say why). So take it with a grain of salt. I personally am losing my mind waiting.....

Was this an e-mail sent to HTC or does said friend know someone from HTC? I'm not trying to call you out, just wondering personally.

We're all losing it here, welcome!

said friend works for an un-named large us carrier (take a guess - lol - i'm trying to protect people here) who happened to have a htc rep in their office last week.

Fair enough, I catch your drift. Thanks for the info, it would be hard for anyone in here to get on your case (they're all pretty good people truthfully) as that info seems to line up pretty well with everything that we have heard in the past and that has been speculated. I really hope they don't push the date back any further. I'm wondering if the initial specs weren't actually 256 RAM and it's being pushed back as a modification for improved specs have gone through.

and listen - i'm running an omnia i910 with spb shell tweaked to look like sense. i've been fiending a sense enabled android phone for so long. said buddy of mine let me borrow a fully functional eris for a few days.... i can barely look at my phone anymore.... for the eris to be the low end android phone.... i can't imagine what the desire or incredible are gonna be like.

i'm the kind of person who needs instant gratification... very impatient. i have my annual upgrade available and it's killing me not to just waste it on an eris. i check these boards and others 100 times a day for hopes of any new info. i for one do not think i can make it til april.
lol

Trust me, I'm still rocking a damn BlackBerry Tour. I haven't stepped into Android yet and I refuse to go get an Eris because I'm afraid I'd like it way too much. If I fell in love with Android and Sense right now I would kick myself for not waiting for the Incredible or N1!

Surprisingly this old LG Dare is hanging in there. I've had ZERO issues with it. It's been a great phone, but it's just outdated now and I need something more. For me, being able to seamlessly integrate all of my Google services (Gmail, Google Calendar, etc.) on a mobile device is going to be heaven for me. I make a lot of appointments on a regular basis and I'm getting tired of having to remember them until I get home and can put them on my Google Calendar. When the Incredible is released my life will be made so much easier.

Not really talking about the looks, more focused on the specs. I definitely believe the Incredible will be released with very similar specs as the Desire, do I think that HTC will add some extra features for Verizon....yes, such as HD video recording and so on, but basically it will run very similar hardware as the Desire/Bravo/ Nexus One.That my opinion anyway.:D

Hey guys, here is a video I ran onto in the Desire sub-forum. I know it's not of the Incredible, but this should be exactly what the Incredible is except for the hardware will look different. Regardless, this is a very informative and enjoyable video to watch. Plus, the guy's accent is pretty cool too. haha Enjoy!
