Hello everyone, sorry my first post is begging for help, but here I am!

I originally had 5.7.893 (I believe it was 7 and not 5, it was the last official OTA) and I was having crazy data issues so I downloaded 5.5.901 and installed that. Everything was working perfectly so I should have left everything alone.

But I didn't. I wanted to be rooted.

So I went and followed the instructions at h t t p ://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/droid-bionic-forum/10577-bionic-path-saver-1-click-method.html with no luck at all, I was still on .901 with no root.

Then I went to h t t p ://rootzwiki.com/topic/14074-easy-way-to-update-to-901-rooted/ and I thought I got closer because I got 5.5.886 rooted. Then when I tried to do the OTA back to .893 (at this point I'm not sure if it was supposed to be 5.5.893 or 5.7.893; I've been at this for 5 hours at this point), the OTA software update failed. Tried it twice, failed both times.

So, here I am, on 5.5.886, rooted, and the worst part is that I have no signal. When it came back up after one of the many reboots, it went to the usual "touch the android to begin," so I did, and it got stuck on the please wait screen indefinitely. I had to reboot to bring it back up so I could bypass it (touching the four corners).

Scratch the signal issue!!

Just did one more Bionic Path Saver 1 Click. It actually seems to have taken the update to 5.5.893, which was previously giving an error message about assert failed: apply_patch_check("MTD:boot etc. Then it came up with a cdt error which that forum has a 901fix.bat file that I ran to reboot the phone out of it. Seems like I am indeed now booted up in 5.5.893 and I lost root.

Does anyone have any advice for me to get .901 and root? I've been at this for 5 hours reading every page of those forums I linked to above in addition to multiple other forums relating to issues that people were having similar to mine. I tried everything they seemed to recommend (I believe I posted everything I tried here, but again, I'm tired after 5 hours and I need to head to sleep, so I may have missed something).

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! :)

If you are on 5.5.893 you should be able to use forever root and then flash. 901 in stock recovery. I will post a link if you need it to Dhackers forever root. I believe it is option 3

r3l3ash3droot and 43v3r root

For 893, at least in my experience, the verison of zergRush used in R3L3AS3DRoot doesn't work. You have to replace it with P3's patched version. That's that file I uploaded in the Root thread.

Have you changed the guide? If so, can you edit the title showing it was recently edited, and not back in November? :D

Raynman, I assume you made it past the "Touch Android to Begin" screen. I tried flashing the .901 K1N3TX and got stuck at that screen. Checked the forums and saw many, many people reporting the same hang at "Touch Android".
I'm curious what you did differently. :)

what base were you on before you flashed kint3x .901. From what I have read kint3x .901 was only for user's that had flash the .901 OTA.

Yea, I made it past...I was rooted 5.5.893...got the OTA update for that in december, and rooted it, and haven't messed with it until installing kin3xt. I followed the directions to get Kin3xt with .901.

.901 Compatible KIN3XT v1.0 and P3's one click upgrade

those instructions are what I followed. Be sure when you install the updates to install one after the other without rebooting.

After posting this, I installed safestrap (uninstalled bionicBootstrap). I setup Kin3xt as my unsafe boot(normal), and then installed DHacker's version of Ice Cream Sandwich on the safe boot. So now my bionic dual boots into kin3xt or ice cream sandwich(choose OS at boot time)...

this link: http://www.droidforums.net/forum/th3ory-rom-bionic/184697-alpha-ics4bionic-01-14-2012-a.html

follow the instructions with safestrap. It's not difficult once you understand. And it works the same way CWM works.

but the build they have is old-ish, go here to get the latest build:
http://ics4bionic.th3oryrom.us.to/

.901 made a significant improvement in wifi reception for the Kin3xt ROM...I haven't tried getting ICS to .901 yet.
