Help How would you update with root?

I know your not supposed to OTA update with root, but then how are you supposed to get the newest software?

i would say most rooted users arent concerned necessarily with the OTA updates as roms, etc will be ahead of the game on that, but if you went the clockwork mod method and renamed the recovery file with a .bak at the end, all you would have to do is remove that file extension, reboot to reflash stock recovery, then reboot again and you should be able to receive the OTA at that point, assuming all you did was unlock and root and not flash. for instance, i unlocked and rooted to use certain apps that require root, but havent flashed anything yet, so this method would work for me

Same here, I rooted for certain apps (Titanium Backup being a big one) but stayed on stock ROM. Usually even though OTA updates break root, it doesn't seem to take long for a dev to come up with a new root method.
