Quake 2 & 3 ported to Droid

Not really very practical to try and play, but with some good demos from esreality quite the kickass way to showcase what the droid and its dedicated graphics processing can do. With proper sound and video tweaking I've been able to get about 35 fps on average.

So how's that HID stack coming I wonder? :D

quake 3 ported to motorola droid | droid life: a motorola droid blog

download and install quake 3 on your motorola droid | droid life: a motorola droid blog

http://code.google.com/p/kwaak3/

When I find some demos I'll post links, but one is included in the game.

once you get the game installed, you can make it run even faster with these console vid tweaks:

(drop console with search button on droid physical keyboard)

/seta r_picmip 2 (you can tweak to your liking, but anything over 2 is going to produce fugly textures)
/seta r_gamma 1.1 (not really a speed tweak, but raises brightness a hair)
/vid_restart (to apply video changes)

and to see your framerate results once you play the demo:
/cg_drawfps 1

Tried it last night and it was a really a simple install to get going. Just ran around for a few minutes and it brought back memories of my long hours fragging and CTF'ing Q2 and Q3. Ran it oc'ed @ 1.0 GHz without a hiccup. Wow, Q3 really showcases what the Droid does! Anyway, if you're wondering, instead of a mouse, you use the touchscreen for mouse look and also for firing your weapon. Neat!

I'm just overwhelmed with what this little brick can do! I just came over from a BB 9700 last week and I've already rooted, oc'ed, installed themes, etc. I have over 50 apps on this thing and I find new things to do everyday. It's mind-boggling!

It really is easiest with a full Quake 3 install from CD. Once installed on your PC, download and install these 2 patches in order:

Quake 3 1.32 patch, then Quake 3 1.32c patch (get them here)

Once done, you can drag pak0.pk3-pak8.pk3 to your phone's baseq3 and be good to go assuming you also got qwaak3 installed prior (you'll need to allow your phone to install non-market apps).
