Help Can't see Droid on Vista

I had just the opposite where it worked fine on a Vista notebook but not on a Windows 7 64 bit. It would mount the sd card and then immediately unmount it. I had to go into device manager and uninstall the usb mass storage, unplug the usb cable, plug it back in again and then it would work that one time. If I unmounted and removed the phone and then went back later to do something else, I had to go through the steps all over again.

As do I lol - he ain't so technically proficient.

OK, so you just went to BB 0.7.8 (which, BTW, had issues of its own, but they cannot be applicable here since it works on the Vista machine), and the Vista connection is defunct.

I ma assuming that you have already tried a different USB port, and tried other devices in the port, so tell me this - did it work on this machine with this phone recently? If so, check for Windows Updates - Tuesday was only 2 days ago....

Oh, I see.

I just recently did a nandroid backup to 1.1 to get some issues fixed with certain apps and I still have the same issue.

I have tried different ports and now, my iPod is giving me the same issue from the USB ports. My external hard drive works just fine though.

If the iPod is also doing it, you might have a power issue, b/c the external HD should have its own power source....

What about the ports on the back of the computer?

Very much so - power spikes and surges and brownouts are very bad for electrical equipment.

If you don't have a way to test the PSU, then get it checked out - but it may not be the PSU, it may be as I surmised - the mobo itself. I am shifting my bet to the PSU since you just mentioned the power issues in your house, but it could have still arced past the PSU and still affected the mobo directly....

Unfortunately, it can be irksome, at the least and downright frustrating, at the worst, to troubleshoot power -related issues....
