Help Husband not receiving my texts

Back in December I had this problem with my HTC Incredible. I would send texts, he wouldn't get them on his HTC Thunderbolt (both on Verizon). I thought it was because my phone was old, had been dropped too many times, or the software updates were causing problems. I downloaded a hotfix posted in the Verizon forums and it solved the problem for a few weeks. Then the problem came back.

Soooo I upgraded to the Galaxy Nexus on Jan 7th. Everything was fine. But the past few days my husband is once again not receiving my texts!

My bestie is on AT&T with an iPhone 4S and she is getting my texts just fine - even when I'm connected to wi-fi or just 4G. I had her send him texts, and he is receiving her texts. But husband is still not getting MY texts when I'm connected to wi-fi or 4G. --- And I'm not getting any error messages saying the texts aren't going through.

What's the problem? Is it HIS phone that's the problem?? I get ALL of his and her texts. I always thought my phone was the problem but now I'm unsure. :)

It may be due to the fact that he's in and out of coverage areas.

Yeah but he's parked right now. He was parked when I sent these texts today. Been parked 29 hours.

And now he's tethered to his laptop and parked in the same place, and he is getting internet so his signal mustn't be too terrible. And no he wasn't tethered when I sent those texts.

ETA: He says he has max bars of 3G. Probably no 4G where he's at. Somewhere in Louisiana. And I'm at home with full 4G.

I'm using the native texting app. And I think he is using Handscent.

The Thunderbolt is plagued with issues.

I have a coworker that has one, gets maybe 4/5 txts from me since he switched to that phone. He's also sending txts to say his wife... but they are sent to me instead. Running joke in the office is that the Thunderbolt is going to catch on fire one day for these oddities!

Add a 3rd party app and it can just complicate, my friend is using the stock messaging app.

Upgrade your husband's phone to your retired Incredible...

Lol I sold it on ebay to help pay for my Nexus. And he had an Incredible but he sat on the screen and busted it (and since he had an upgrade in July he upgraded to the Thunderbolt).

I told him we should just suck it up, add another line, and he should buy a Nexus. But that's $249 + $10 a month. So we're not sure yet.

Ahh, too bad. I was just kidding, however. Perhaps he can sell his Thunderbolt on Ebay or do one of those trade in deals like Gazelle and get enough to subsidize the Galaxy Nexus without having to add the $10/month.

Also, as posted elsewhere here, this seems to be a Verizon-specific Android problem. No ideas on causes, fixes, or workarounds, but a LOT of previous Verizon Androids have had this intermittent text issue. The hotfix you mention above is one of the band-aids, back when Verizon vehemently denied it was an issue with their network, but it has since popped up across manufacturers and phones, leaving only the network as the common factor. I'm sorry, I know it doesn't help (it isn't a resolution) but there is a history to it. Have you tried texting through Google Voice (is that still free?), or maybe switch to using "Talk" (Google's IM service)?

Isn't texting thru EDGE?? In other words, 3G/4G strength and Wifi don't mean much when it comes to texting??

For example, in my house, my Wifi is very reliable and fast...my call signal is good...but sometimes my text (esp. pics) don't go thru on my iPhone 4S (Sprint network)...same with my wife's Nexus S 4G. I do get an error message though (unlike OP above).

We have never had a late payment in 3.5 years of service. What would that have to do with anything anyway. We're still able to access all other services/features.

my friend on verizon doesnt pay his bill on time and they cut his txt messaging service before anything else. and he can still send, but not receive. it was just a thought.

I may have missed it, but does he have a 3rd party messaging app on his Bolt? When I had my TBolt I HAD to use Handcent or another app. The stock app always gave me problems, but never had any issues when using Handcent.
On my Gnex it is just the opposite. Twice I have tried to use Handcent and had problems, but never had any issues with the stock app. Weird.....
Maybe have him use Handcent for a while and see if the problem continues.

He uses Handcent on Bolt. I use stock app. I wanted to keep it simple on my end until the apps catch up with 4.0+. BUT we were BOTH using Handcent before I upgraded (his Bolt and my Incredible).
