Time to exchange my droid eris for the BB 9630. The eris is a great phone but man do I feel obligated just to stare at its beauty with no reason. I find my self just checking the same website over and over just because of the power this little device brings.

So I decided to go with the BB just because of its messaging power it brings as I am a text/email whore.

Thanks for those who have helped with me the droid eris and hopefully I don't regret this decision!!!!!

man i always forget that its a phone too.....

Txting is my life.

Davros, I see that you stated you are a texting bandit as well. Have you ever experienced a blackberry and could compare the two? Do you feel sometimes bogged down by the lag of android texting system that I feel at times?

I have to wait till March 9th to switch my phone. So this is allowing more time to experience the droid eris.

We don't fault you! You have to use the device that works best for you. The BlackBerry is a great device, I used one for years. I simply got tired of the boring OS so I moved on. I may switch back someday, who knows. For now, I'm fine. Good luck with the switch, you're welcome back if it doesn't work.

Warriior, The same question applies to you. I just graduated college with a degree in finance/accounting so I am just trying to pick a phone that is best for me....

I would like to know your honest opinion on the major differences between the messaging aspect of the two devices?

i had the BB Tour before my Droid Eris. i really liked it as a phone and the keyboard was amazing! but the eris has more to offer in terms of apps and browsing and what not. the main if not only thing that is better about the blackberry is its keyboard. (for a high-school student who does not need e-mail or other business features that is. :))

I used a BlackBerry for about 6 years and I am still a fan of the device. I don't think that you can beat the email integration and ease of typing. I send/receive about 3000 text messages a month and alot of emails that are easily addressed with the BlackBerry. That being said, I think the OS is boring, the web is average at best, and the overall device needs to be brought into the year 2010 by RIM. Jump ahead to Android, the Eris can do everything the BlackBerry does and more. The email integration isn't as good but the Android platform is making great strides. Text messaging is text messaging, it comes down to if you prefer a physical keyboard or a touch keyboard. I can tell you this, I am not a huge fan of touch screen devices and I am using the Eris after 6 years with a BlackBerry. I think I am caught up in the "everything this device can do category". I am still a BlackBerry fan but not a big enough fan to give up on the Eris. I think the future of Android is bright and I think RIM is stuck in the dark somewhere.
