I just ordered a Galaxy Nexus that will be on the Verizon network.

All my Android phones (G1 -> Nexus One -> Optimus V) have all been on flat rate data networks. Obvious my Galaxy Nexus will not. I ordered it with the low 4GB / mo plan.

What is everyone's experience with 'normal' data usage with the Galaxy Nexus? Is 4GB way too little?

cowmix, I moved your thread to the Verizon Galaxy Nexus as folks with the same phone / provider gather here.

Speaking of which, I have a VZW GNex, though I am unlimited. I use WiFi at home (it's faster as 4G is not available to me yet). When not at home, I stream TuneIn radio on my commute (30-40 minutes a day), check email, facebook, hit up a web site or ten, and spend a lot of time on here. Occasionally I download a ROM for the phone (100+ MB each) and on a normal month I use around 700-900MB. I hope that helps.:)

4 GB is a decent amount of data. I rarely go over and that is with streaming pandora 5 days a week for 4-6 hours, plus occasional netflix usage.
Interesting. I stream via Google Music 5 days a week (at minimum), for less than 2 hours each day, and in combination with other mild data activities (the next highest only using 350 MB), I've exceeded 7 GB in my last cycle.

To the OP,

If you're at-all concerned, I'd make sure you're on WiFi as much as possible (also for battery savings), and consider your usage habits. If you're going to do a lot of streaming, you'll want to be wary and consider using the data manager in the Data usage settings for a while, just to give you an idea of what and how much data any app is using. Then, be sure to check this against your VZW account details, as overage charges wouldn't be fun.

yeah cowmix,

It will be tough to gauge how much you will use, hopefully enough of us will post with our usage habits and how much data you consume to give you at least an idea. I was also surprised how little Netflix uses though. Tim K is dead on about WiFi access and streaming. Streaming is usually my #1 data use. 2/26 - today (3/6) ~89MB and that is ~30-60 minutes a day on 3G

That's because they don't stream HD to their mobile app (at least they don't on my phone). If you tether and stream to a TV that requests an HD stream you'll see that data usage spike.

yeah, but I would be on WiFi then.:D Lucky for me my Blueray player does Netflix through wifi too, so I don't have to worry about connecting my phone to the tv.
