so in settings, when i check the the box where the green check mark is suppose to appear it acts like it is trying to connect the bluetooth, but then nothing happens and it again says connect bluetooth...like it did before...im trying to just use my droid as a router for my macbook via bluetooth. any help? why isnt my bluetooth not only not connecting, but not turning on as well?

First you need to turn on Bluetooth, then you need to pair a device, and only then can you connect to the paired device. I assume that is what you are trying, but you were saying "connected" instead of "turned on".

So, you go to Settings > Wireless & networks > and click the box next to "Bluetooth"? And that fails?
If so, I would turn off the phone, pull the battery and try again.
If that didn't help, then it depends on if you are stock or not. Are you using a custom rom or anything? If so, which one.

Next, of course, is that you cannot tether via Bluetooth DUN as far as I know. At least not out of the box. Or at the least you need the tethering package from VZW.

Sounds like you're trying to tether. I'd do a search on tethering, because it's a risk you need to be informed on. While it's unlikely, it is possible for Verizon to find out you've been tethering, and rape you on data charges. That said, easiest (and fastest) way to tether is to root and grab a rom, and tether via wifi.

I don't believe the bluetooth profiles on the Droid support bluetooth tethering, altho I'm not sure. My wife works for the cable company, so I have no reason to investigate. 20mb/s certainly beats anything Verizon will give me.
