@all
Not to sound impatient, but while I understand waiting for actions from players during combat, or important storyline decisions, could we make it where obvious unanimous actions by the party can be controlled by one or two members? For example, in this case, even if it leads to consequences, is there any doubt if we wait that 9to5 is going to follow the rest of the party down the stairs to the landing? Just trying to help move things along, as 9to5's schedule means most likely we will be waiting until 10ish tonight for him to move down a flight of stairs... I am not trying to discriminate, I would want the story to continue without me in a situation like this, for example after 10:30-11ish when I have to go to bed, with you all being up later than that...

most times I dont mind 1 or 2 characters driving the story here but his post saying he is going down the stairs is actually important to what may or may not happen next. Also a decision to split the party is rather important to the story since it could easily lead the the death of 2 or all party members. Generally my planned encounters are made for the party as a whole not half of it ;)

I understand what you are saying, and agree that if we were to split up, it wouldn't be fair for us to decide which way he is going, and who he will go with unilaterally. I think that would qualify as an important storyline decision. However I was talking about having him move to the landing, so the party can discuss, as if he is present, our next move... Obviously waiting for his input before acting. However, I am not sure if even this is required if the three who are present decide NOT to split up, as I don't think anyone is willing to voluntarily go off alone at this point, and he would be outvoted on any other option...

actually the part of the stairs all but Cain have passed is trapped in some way...nobody has triggered it yet and he failed to notice it when he scanned it so he doesn't have an opportunity to disable it either. That being said the knowledge of the trap is metadata and none of the characters have a reason to suspect it is trapped either ;)
