I'm looking for an app that gives more detail about what's eating up my battery than the stock battery system pane. My cell standby and OS seems to be using 50% of my battery, which drains 10% every 20-30 minutes. Is there a better battery manager i can use?
Also looking for a similar app to manage data usage for specific apps in real time, as well as CPU usage. Thanks guys

That does seem to be a lot of usage. Do you keep wifi, bluetooth, GPS, etc all turned on?

A good app to manage stuff is Juice Defender. It has 3 different versions, but the most expensive is only $5.

I'm using Juice Defender Ultimate, with custom settings; I told it to automatically manage data, wifi, bluetooth, etc. Wifi and Bluetooth are never on, but GPS is. I have Google GPS, Standalone, and Verizon GPS all enabled..can I disable any of the 3 and still use Navigation efficiently? I've gone through all of JD's settings, enabled almost all of the energy saving settings, but I am still only getting a 13% battery boost, according to JD.

I use this app (Battery Monitor Widget) on the Droid 3: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ccc71.bmw#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDUwMSwiY2NjNzEuYm13Il0.

Forget the "widget" part of the name, one thing that you can do is to put a persistent notification so you can easily check on tons of battery stats. If you go to the "Estimates" button on the bottom, "Statistics" tab on the top, it shows what's used the batter (percentage and time.) The app can also show actual battery left in single percent increments in the notification bar at the top.

It's my understanding that the GPS does use quite a bit of juice and leave it off.

Now some of the others may need to correct me on this as they are more familiar with it than I am, but it is my understanding that Google GPS and Verizon location don't actually use the GPS chip but use the cell towers to check your location and using them for navigation can eat into your data plan where as the standalone GPS won't, except for the use of Google Maps if you use that. But I have read in another thread that you can download other apps that store maps locally so none of your data is used for navigation.

But still, something seems odd. Sounds like something is running a lot of CPU cycles even when the phone is in standby. And Doogald's suggestion is a good one. I use the free Battery Monitor Widget and it's very useful. But the Juice Defender let's you really get a much better control over how things use the battery.

Seems com.motorola.friendfeed is draining quite a bit of battery...I already decreased the sync time to every hour with juicedefender, so I'm not sure how get rid of this guy. Any advice?

That's the Social Networking. That's known to be a MAJOR battery drain. It sounds like you have an app or a widget that is constantly sending out your location through the GPS.

... yes ... it sux (battery) ... it is called in the background by the other "social" apps.

Okay, not really sure how to fix this.
Also, the Battery Monitor widget is helpful, but what I really want to be able to see is, how much battery an app is using say, over a week-long period. Showing battery usage statistics over a long period of time. All Battery Monitor widget does is tell you at the exact moment you check, what percentage each app is using. I want to be able to see that, over the week, Android OS is to be accounted for 20% of battery usage, and App XXX is using 40%. Then I know that app XXX is my battery hog. Any app that does this?

You fix it by not using any "social networking" apps.

All battery usage reports are subjective. For starters, charging to 100% means "almost but not quite 100%".

The killers are ...

GPS
Social Locator
Task Killers (they kill a task that is doing nothing and a few seconds later the task is relaunched. So something that was doing nothing is now constantly being started.)
4G
