Root Best stock battery life settings

hey guys i was wondering wat is the best combination to have great battery life with a stock battery on the esteem like what kernels would u guys suggest or roms or settings anything cause i only get 7 hours at regular use like just 300 txts and 2 5min calls

I think any of the debloated roms are fine. What are you currently on?

I recommend Juice Defender. The free version is fine. Set it to aggressive, and it turns off your data when your screen is off. This saves a LOT of battery. The paid versions have a few additional features that might not be important. I changed the setting so that it checks background data every 5 minutes instead of 30 minutes.

well for right now i just flashed mts zvd kernal i still have stock and last time i tried juice defender i didnt get my 4g back for some reason until i rebooted my phone 3 times

That used to happen to me too a while back. There's an app called DataSwitch that you can use to toggle your data back off and on and works very well. I haven't had any issues with Juice Defender in the past 2 months.

I had great battery life with any of the VZD ROMs with ldrifta's Speed Kernel. I also us 2xbattery app with it. This is with a stock battery and light use, wifi, gps and bluetooth off, 4g on. I'm just testing the latest ROM (1.2) I'll see what kind of battery life I get out of that one.

Yes, I'm very impressed with ldrifta's speed kernel, all the ROMs are great and I love the performance they bring but I keep going back to longer battery life as my higher priority.

When I bought this phone I was getting 4-5hrs tops without calls just txting. I then installed 2x battery which only gave me about 1-2 increase but all was welcome, so I kept it ever since. I'm not sure if it still does anything with these new ROMs and kernels but I keep it just in case it does help.

I'm running his knew ROM and I hope battery life is just as good because it runs really smooth on my phone. I will post my findings here once I've had for a day or two.

Update: had ROM#2_1.2 for a few hrs and so far so good. This pics show battery drain with very light use, mostly idle but it's a good indicator of how long it will go through out the day. Thanks ldrifta, this one kicks ass!!!

my personal recomendations.. im using #2 with lg-zvd speed kernel and i get 20+/day

first thing i always do is run through each option in the settings lol turn off all crap you dont need:

-Sound/audible selections off
-Display/auto brightness off and dim brightness a little
--/auto rotate off (unless needed)
--/animations off
-accounts & sync/turn off anything you dont use
-language & keyboard/predictions off
--/sound feedback off
-then i do launcher settings, same idea turn off what you dont need
-then i run through the apps, uninstall g+ and tether because i dont use them.. i hardly ever download anything except volume+ & a game here & there..
-use minimal homescreen & widgets
-ALWAYS turn off data & wifi when not using internet..

im on 10 and a half hours with 67% right now, and i was listening to music for like 6 hours at work, used the wifi there for an hour or two and forgot to turn it off untill i got home lol so the whole drive home my wifi was searching for a signal and i still have 67%!!! i made a few phonecalls too because i got a flat tire during lunch and i sent some txts because im a ladies man :D i get great battery life!! never need to bring a charger with me anymore lol

@ mrpnut I want to flash the adrenaline tweak but I don't get the part were it says to mount? What exactly do I mount?

Ok according to instructions you do have to mount "system" so when in recovery scroll down to "mounts and storage" and select that option. Then scroll to "mount /system" select that option, you will notice it becomes "unmount /system" once you slect it. Then select "go back",next screen slect "install zip from sd card", the choose zip from sd card, find the adrenaline shot.zip file and install it.That worked for me.

As for the ROM I was using it was #2(1.2), I also disabled a lot of the things ldrifta mentioned in the settings, specially heptic feedbac, I have my screen brightness at 10% indoors and bring up when I go outside. I have wifi, BT and GPS off everything else on. I like using 2xbattery because it turns data off when the screen if off and back on when you wake it up automatically, at least that's what I understand it does.

I hope I wasn't too confusing trying to explain all I did, hope it helps you.

1.so when in recovery scroll down to "mounts and storage" and select that option with pwr button.
2.Then scroll to "mount /system" select that option, you will notice it becomes "unmount /system" once you slect it.
3. Then select "go back"
4.next screen slect "install zip from sd card"
5. the choose zip from sd card
6. find the adrenaline shot.zip file and install it.
7. Reboot,
that worked for me.
I just followed the instructions from the Dev. and they say to mount plus others that have installed it also told me they did mount. It might work without mounting but I would do it to be on the safe side. Also make sure you mount first and then flash the tweak.
