Best Bluetooth Mono Headset?

I am a little surprised at the big difference between the various site reviews and the user reviews for the current models of Jawbone mono headsets. I am still using the original Jawbone that I purchased in 2007. I've never been unhappy with it up until the last 4-5 months when it began showing it's age. I recently began looking at the various models out there today with the thinking that I would defiantly go with one of the Jawbone models again but have been disappointed to find so many negative user reviews. Doesn't mean I won't go with one of them but I want to see what the rest of you like and don't like.

I would especially like to hear from those of you who use the Jawbone Era & Icon models.

I've actually used quite a few of these over the last few months trying to find the best headset with regards to connection, sound quality and comfort as I wear mine for most of the day.

Jawbone:
I tried both the Icon HD and the Era from Jawbone and the sound quality, noise canceling and connection were top notch. I was really impressed with how well I could hear the other person and how they could only hear me in some of the noisiest environments I could find.

The main problem I had with the two of these was comfort. The included gel things are just horrible. It was so bad I felt like my ear was being torchered. I would consider my ear to be pretty average and I've never had an set of headphones or a bluetooth earpiece fit so poorly.

As far as Jawbones little app stuff that you can get from their website they are more or less worthless so don't let that be a selling point.

Blueant:
The Q2 on the opposite end in the comfort department. It is like sitting in a lazyboy recliner. The inserts are very soft and extremely comfortable to keep on all day. The sound quality is very good on both ends of the call as well. Noise cancellation isn't quite up there with Jawbone, but it is very good. The two issues I had with the Q2 were voice commands and some static.

The voice commands are built into the earpiece and you are forced to say extra commands to get to Google's built in commands on the phone.

As for the static, I keep my phone in my pocket most of the time and especially when on a call. If the phone was in my pocket I would get some static on the call. Nothing that the other person could hear so I knew it was the earpiece.

Voyager Pro HD:
I have heard some great things about this one. I have not tried it myself, but only because of its size.

Motorola Elite Sliver:
This is the earpiece I am currently using. In many ways it is a compromise of the Jawbone and the Blueant. The comfort is good, but not the best. The noise canceling is great, but not on par with Jawbone. The sound quality is excellent though. The one problem I have is that it uses a proprietary case for charging. I usually prefer my connections to be micro USB so I only need one plug for everything and while the case is micro usb it is just something else to carry around with me.

If you have a BestBuy near you then I would suggest taking a few headsets for a test drive. They will allow you 30 days to test out any headset you want and return it if you don't like it. That is more or less what I have been doing and they have taken each one back with no trouble.

I just got the Jawbone ERA yesterday. I have been using an old (very old) Motorola HS850. The jawbone has better volume output, and callers say I sound very clear. Noise canceling, as offthedamned mentioned, is top notch. As for the comfort, this is a very personal thing. As he didnt find it very comfortable, I find it hardly noticable on (in?) my ear. As I have hear people say the ear buds included in the box arent very comfortable, or soft, Im wondering if Jawbone changed them, as the ones Im using are very soft. Tere is 8 different ear inserts included, as well as a hook/loop for over ear use. I have also heard many people have issues with the ear hook/loop coming off easilly, I tested its fit, and found it to grip the unit very tenaciously, and not comming off unless you deliberatly pull it off. Anyway, I have not tested all the ones listed, and only have the old one mentioned to compare to. So Im not sure how much help I have been.

I've a Jabra BT headset which works well for phone calls. Is there a way to pipe music on my phone this this nice little gadget that was meant to receive phone calls?

I would guess that most of the people viewing this thread are looking for the same answer you are.

The truth of matter is that there is no real answer. Just like asking someone what color shirt is the best, the answer will always be that it depends. Personal preference as well as style, feel, comfort, ect. play a huge part in what makes one work better than another.

A bluetooth headset will only do what it is designed to do. A headset will only play music if it has A2DP. Without that feature, you won't get to play music through it.
