I wanted to make a thread so that the best applications, games, widgets, ect. could be found easily, instead of searching many threads. Any app you find resourceful? Fun? POST IT
Lets make this thread have all the best for your Android Phone! List as many apps as you like! The rules below are in place to make this thread efficient for its subscribers and viewers.

Rules:

In this thread DO NOT repost an app that is already up and NO "o that app is sweet" comments. If its in this thread it must be sweet.

If you disagree and think the app is bad,or you have a better app for the same use, quote the bad app and post the better app and write your review or explain.

Reviews about the apps are helpful (What they're used for)

You may agree an app previously listed is the best, and include why you like it. Most apps agreed with will make the Need to Have List

You may also discuss an app, widget, ect..

New:
Please include wether the app is for a rooted Android user, a simple capital R in parentheses will do next to the name of the app.

Also please put app names in Bold

If it is not listed in the market, you can ask where to get it.

You can ask for reviews on apps.

PM me with anymore rules suggestions.

Lets make this a thread to come back to for apps, widgets, games, ect.!

ColorDict - Great dictionary application, can install many "ColorDict Data" files, such as Thesaurus, Translations, Bible dictionary, etc.

Ringdroid - This is an amazing app. on my old Q9C I made ring tones on my computer for my phone. With Ringdroid, you make them on your phone. And it's actually a really nice audio splicing tool. Only thing I would like to see added is the ability to Fade in and out of the audio you splice out.

Unit Converter
- Just as the name suggests, a unit converter app. Quick and easy conversions.

Wifi Analyzer - Scans all of the WiFi networks in range and tells you what channel they are on, the signal strength for the networks, etc. Useful for when you are setting up or troubleshooting wireless networks.

iCommando - an awesome first person sniper game for Droid using the accelerometer.

Jewels - the game bejeweled for mobile phones

The Weather Channel - great weather application

auto memory manager - (Root Required) This app helps control how much is dedicated to different processes. It helps to free ram being used by invisible, non-essential processes.

battery left
- widget that estimates the exact percentage of battery left as well as how long until the phone dies.

executive assistant
- A widget with buttons for email, texts, phone, calendar, rss, and facebook (and twitter but i've never tweeted). Displays the info on your home screen when you press the button, never have to leave the home screen.

gentle alarm
- I can wake up to a sneeze two rooms away, so my alarm does not need to be loud and scary. This alarm is only as loud as you want it to be, and it fades in so as not to startle you out of your dreams.

jetflicks - stream tv shows in high quality to your phone. A 3G connection is required. The cost is $4 per month with a 12 month subscription, but if you watch stuff on your phone often, this is a great app. Good selection too.

juice defender - still investigating but, reviews indicate that it can significantly increase the life of your battery.

not call log - when you end a call, your phone will default to the home screen (or another screen of your choosing) as opposed to the call log screen.

Sportstap - a widget that provides score updates. Can be configured for favorite team updates!

palmary weather - Great new weather app. High quality images and useful information make this a very good weather app.

apps organizer
- place apps within folders to conserve screen real estate. Can use in conjunction with Better Cut for some real cool looking folders.

any rss reader - A widget that displays RSS feeds on your home screen.

3 - I think its actually called Cubed. But its a great music app. Can use a widget, displays album art. If opened, it has a very nice graphical interface. I believe it is still in beta but I have no doubt that it will be one of the better music players available. Search "rockon" but do not download "rockon", download "3". (Does not stream, plays music on SD).

Voice Alerts: reads SMS, GMail, Twidroid mentions/DMs, more to you. Great while driving, as you don't need to touch the phone or indulge bluetooth. A talking alert, much more useful than traditional alert sounds.

Alarmoid: set daily schedules for quieting sounds, including ringer. Then create a VIP list in google contacts (server), and add that list name to this app. Those folks will be able to ring thru, even during quiet time.

Setting Profiles: set it up to, for example, turn on your GPS when you leave the house; turn it off when you return home while also turning on your WiFi; schedule turning on one or more apps by locale and/or time. The list goes on. Learning curve, but the rewards are great for those who hang in there.

Calendar in Status Bar: square icon, reflecting day name and date number.

Bar Control: Put whatever app(s) desired in your status bar for quick access, from anywhere.

Flex Dialer Pro: pushes Google Voice calls thru Verizon network, while showing your GV number. Great for times when data connections are flaky. Recent update added exclusions list-- numbers to always/never use GV.

SMS PopUp: the only messenging client that's GV friendly. Configure button for "reply to number", and you'll aways be dumped into GV for composing your reply. You get a popup notification, while retaining GV awareness for reply purposes.

Amazon Lightning Deals Widget: Self-refreshes. Notification per deal in status bar, so you can grab sweet deals of interest. (Alternative: set up a new twitter account and follow @AmazonDeals only. Use one of the freebie twitter clients to push sound notifications to you.)

List Plus: super-easy config to set by location. Uniquely allows multiple locales per item. (Example: Grocery items. Type in WalMart, & get a list of nearby stores; ditto Food Lion. Tap the local stores you are likely to frequent. Two locations will be added: Walmart & Food Lion, covering all branch stores you selected.)

ToDo Q: like List Plus, only more of the traditional to-do styling. Most delightfully attentive dev I've encountered to date. Think of it as a dressed up Astrid with built-in Locale-like functionality. gCal friendly.

dxTop home replacement: Replaces several apps. Customize icons, even folders; screenshot home screens; 5-icon customizable app dock; task monitor/killer; apps organizer via categories within app drawer-- you can also add related folders to your desktop.

MoreIcons Widget: Make better use of the premium screen space.

Note Everything Pro: voice/text notes optionally in the status bar and/or with sound/timed alarms; encrypted notes; toss checklists, etc to gCal

Calendar Add Event: *quickly* add items to your preferred gCal

Calendar Pad Pro: better UI for stock cal

HiFi MP3 & OGG Audio Recorder: Create your own voice alerts, usable with any app accepting ringtones as alarm (freebie Rings Extended adds this capability to all apps)

Listables: creates a linked list of all your installed apps; one tap takes you to the app's Market page

Screebl: profoundly intelligent screen on/off automation, saving battery life

Is any kind of a Task Killer needed for the Droid?

A Task killer is a useful thing to have to end programs when they are not responding, but also to end all programs running when you put the droid on its charger for the night. This way, is any of the apps are running with internet, they do not run through the night, and you don't get charged:).

TasKiller - A free task killer application for your Android system.

Some apps are persistent. News readers and the such usually restart to refresh any feeds you have, text message app restarts to get text messages, settings app comes back. That kind of thing, I believe. it kills all the apps you really need to kill though.
Oh yeah my list of must have apps:
Swype- best keyboard EVER
Handcent- best messaging app EVER
Beautiful Widgets- Bets clock app EVER(see a pattern here?)
Armageddon Squadron- Best flight "sim" app EVER
Mixzing- Best music app EVER (still going)
Ringdroid- best ringtone making app EVER
Advanced Task manager- Best Task manager EVER
Phonemypc- Best app EVER

Thats just some of my favorites.

And Root. I know it's not an application, but Root is awesome. Probably wouldn't be as happy as I am with my droid.

I followed Kitesurfer's instructions for installing Swype but as soon as I tried to use it on my Droid, I got a message stating "Trial period has expired - please upgrade/update".

Any ideas why I'm getting this message?

I re-booted the phone and it seems to be working fine now.

I tried rebooting as well but as soon as i tried using it again it said the same thing? Help with Swype!!!

The only one I have that hasn't been mentioned is Car Dock v2.

CAP201003172342.jpg

Launches when place in the dock, home button returns to the app when in the dock, icons are customizable and has 4 screens even though I only use one. Screenshot is showing the icon's I used instead of the default app icons.
