Help How can i rollback from ICS

Updated to ICS the other day and before the battery was top notch. It use to last at least 15 or so hours of heavy use. But now with ICS The battery is really disapointing. After 8 hours the battery is down to 6% . ICS is great but i would like to go back to my previous android version. How can i do this?

Thanks

To be fair I have noticed a difference in battery power and for me its simply down to not being able to switch the background data off.

I tested it on.Gingerbread and switching it off does prolong it so if people are noticing a big drop then it is down to the update.

Not a problem for me as I have two batteries but it would be nice to be able to switch it off.

But instead of everyone panicking and throwing their hands up in horror castigating Samsung and Google and demanding a 'fix', there should be careful consideration of what is going on. When I was running Gingerbread I had two levels of power saving set up via settings. These disappeared after the update. I have reinstated one set for when the battery drops below 30% but not yet the other set. I also had the screen on auto brightness and this changed to 31%. I also had wifi and mobile data switched off until I needed them. After the update mobile data was on by default. I'm sure there are other things that can be tweaked to improve power consumption. I do strongly suspect that battery profiling is reset during the update and for the battery remaining gauge to work properly will take some time and a few power cycles.

ok guys

to answer the question as to how you switch off background data on ics.
1. settings-data usage...on Mobile screen switch mobile data on. you will now see Set Mobile Data Limit, click to activate and click OK on pop up, you may now turn mobile data off.
2. On above screen hit menu button you will now be given 3 options Data Roaming-Restrict background data-Show Wi-Fi usage.....tick Restrict background data click OK on pop up.....and your done.

only problem is you now have to live with a white triangle in your notification bar, but if it improves battery life i dont think its too much of an issue

@ifb-online Like I said I could use my note for well over 15 hours on GB, so on ICS i can only use it for 8, so i guess it IS the update? I have even changed everything on low settings but still no joy, but why should you? I had everything maxed out on GB so again i say it IS the update!

Maybe a secondary battery is the answer for now...

You can't switch it off using the normal methods? I used the mobile data widget built into JuiceDefender Ultimate. It was the first thing I did after the ICS update - turn off 3g. Then I double checked the settings of apps which like to connect to the web without me knowing (or allowing them to). I've noticed no difference in battery life whatsoever. Overnight I'm still losing around 0.4%/hr of battery life.

Not the mobile data, I leave that on and have a widget for that, the background data is what allows the market to be on and for your phone to.always be reachable on Facebook messenger which I tested with Gingerbread and I found keeping it on when you don't need it adds to the battery running down quicker.

Someone figured out how to switch it off on here in another thread.
