Just get widgetlocker thats what i use heres what my lockscreen looks like, just make sure you give it root permissions and you should only ever see the stock lockscreen for a few moments when you first boot up the phone if you reboot it or whatnot.

Ya thats exactly the problem, and its why the vast majority use apps like widgetlocker etc because hacking your theme into the framework is no easy task.
