Newbie
Can anybody please tell me how to set up swap correctly on koumamod 1.6...i found this on new koumamod.apk thread but just don't understand it.
I mkdir /data/swap
and long clicked bar...
clicked data
clicked swap
clicked current directory
choose 32mb
made priority 100
clicked save

I long click bar,i click data, but where is swap for me to click @ ? I have everything set up just fine as far as SSM, but would love to use swap to help our little phone out with it's low internal memory . If any can please PM me or reply with detailed directions on how to do this. Maybe even noob directions..LOL I see alot of people asking this same question. Also i saw up here in the forum that there is a zip that will wipe dalvik cache for you when you have SSM set up but everytime i click the links it says"invalid link please contact administrator." Where can i find this ? If i had this zip do i just flash in CWM and it will do the rest basically ? Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction, thanks in advance. Hope to hear some good info....Thanks

yes, won't mess with anything else. use to wipe dalvik. only with ssm!!! thats it.:D

I know that you make 3 partitions on your sd card for SSM. I was talking bout how to use the swap setting in koumamod. You know the settings part where you need to long click the bar, browse where you want to swap, set priority, and set swappiness. Thats the part i would like to learn how to use. I got SSM with the 3 partitions working just fine. Just wanna learn how to use the swap setting in koumamd.

Yeah, I made it do that on purpose.
If there is space available, and everything displayed has some space assigned to it, it offers you a new slider to assign space to.

There are some ways to clutter the screen up that I need to resolve, but if you assign all the space, it will remove any extra 0 size partitions from the bottom of the list (not the middle of the list, but noone should usually be dumb enough to put a 0 size partition in the middle of the list)

I guess nobody knows there correct way to use the swap settings in koumamod? This is what i am going thru. I long press to browse, then i guess click data, then up one level comes up with more things to click, but, then what? What do i do from here?I don't wanna guess any mess up SSM on the phone. I would like to use the swap settings cause my kids fill my phone up and play games on it and by the time there is 25+ games on my phone it becomes really laggy. Makes me wanna throw my phone against the wall. Does any body know how to use these settings? My phone is set up for SSM , i used the adb shell sdparted -i method . That was pretty easy, i just don't know what or where to make the swap in the setting with the priority set to what. If any one know how, please explain to me how did this setting on your phone. Any help is appreciated and thanks in advanced..thanks

If you made a swap partition on your sd-card, then you browse to /dev/block and pick the item named mmcblk0p# where # is the highest number listed

Ok...I browse to dev then block then look for mmcblk0p. I have mmcblk0p 1,2,&3. You said to use the highest one which would be 3. Should i make priority 100% and keep the swappiness @ default 60 ? What would you suggest ? Also is that the only swap file i should make ? Only why i ask cause there is two browse bars. I really appreciate all the info Kouma. It's been hell trying to figure out without messing something up. Thanks in advance...

Also when i go on the emulator it say dev/block/mmcblk0p2 is mounted on data/app and dev/block/mmcblk0p3 is mounted on data/dalvik-cache. Just throwing that out there. Does that sound correct ? I haven't done the complete swap thing, just waiting for comformation from previous reply...Thanks

Priority is not a %
It's just a number. Pick your favorite, so long as it's between something like -32,768 to 32,767

You made your mmcblk0p3 EXT4. you have to make it be SWAP to use it as swap

Now I made a swap file, checked it in terminal on free and I do have numbers there now and then check it again a little later and the used got bigger. well as that keeps getting bigger and bigger do I have to clear that what happens when it maxes out, and will it max out?

it goes up and down depending how many apps and mem u are using at the time

ok this is weird..i redid everything and i go into terminal emulator and i check with free but all i get is 0 0 0. Also when i long press to go to system/swap....there is nothing that say swap...what am i missing here?

Also in the emulator when i do cat/proc/swaps it say swaps not found. i am confused ..i partitioned thru adb and i double check with his sd card partition apk and it is set up correctly Fat partition is 7875, ext4 is 3974, and swap partition is 3974...what am i missing in order to see a swap file in the koumamod settings? Am i missing a step?

Just to update. I found the answer i needed in a new thread up here called " getting swap to work?" Made by cwhatever. Very useful ...I would like to thank everyone that chimed in to try to help me out ..THANKS
