Root Busybox...Which one?

Which busybox should I install?
I know grd Has one with it on...But I rather try to install my own its funner that way.:D

Agreed. Want to learn the process. A quick how to would be helpful too. Not sure whether it is just mounting the zip onto the sd card and installing.. Or if it has to be extracted to a specific location. Thanks for all the hard work devs.

Its actually quite simple just drag and drop lol
Then this.
Make sure your system is mounted and everything.
adb shell /system/xbin/busybox --install -s /system/xbin/
Here is the site for busybox.
It goes in your system/xbin folder

BusyBox

What Are We Dragging And dropping? the zip file correct? or what is extracted from it? and just dropping into sd card root folder? I checked around today and found a bunch of different directions to install it. might as well get it from the horse's mouth. thanks.

sorry I actually gave you bad directions I forgot I didn't get it from there but actually got it somewhere else.
Busybox Toolset
Just stick it into system/xbin
And run the command.
After that you can test it by doing
adb shell
busybox whoami
and it will tell you your id.

Easy enough, thanks. FYI there is also a patch now available at xda

I found this article on how to install busybox. I've used it and it works great. When doing the mount command mount rw, remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system: the mtdblock 4 needs to be mtdblock3

Hope it helps.

Yeah ive had BB for a while now, I'm sure someone will find it useful. But most don't even know what BB does so they don't need to worry about, besides most roms that people are cooking now have BB built in.

Hello.

I have got root on my xperia play R800i ive done what i wanted to do(de-bloat) so do i need to keep busybox on my phone or can i freeze or remove it?

I didnt root my phone for development or mod reasons i simply wanted to remove stuff that i either dont use, need, want or find pointless.

I dont know what bustbox does and to be honest i dont actually care, but if it needs to stay on my device and run then fair do's if not il remove.

Many thanks.
