Will Motorola Make A Photon II LTE?

In case you still missed the mention of a non-removable battery,it's in the link you posted earlier. It's a 1785mAh LI-ION battery (imbedded). :-(

Yeah, I went back and read the full page...SO glad this phone isn't for me, but it should be fine for the person that's getting the phone. I really, really hope there's some magic formula they worked with this phone to make the battery last. Otherwise, there's going to be big time criticism of such a small battery that's not removable.

Wow, really? Just... Really???

I'm sooo disappointed. That phone sucks so bad. It's not an upgrade at all. In fact it's a downgrade to a lower level technology (a physical keyboard), a smaller memory capacity, the same damn screen (Really Motorola? You couldn't improve on the screen, seriously???), unremoveable battery (that really sucks!!!), you're stuck with Sprint's insane International Roaming rates if you travel with it, and to top it all off there is no webtop!!!

This phone is an absolute zero, nada, nothing...

If they don't come out with anything but this for this year, I'm done with Motorola. This is an insult to Sprint customers who are Motorola fans and who wanted a true successor to the MoPho.

If there isn't a true successor to the MoPho, I'm with HTC all the way. That LTEvo looks better and better every day.

I'm so disappointed.

Well, it's not "exactly" the same screen cuz it has the "Colorsplash Technology"...LOL...whatever the hell that does to make it any better.

Oh, it's on the sprint page, duh. Good God that's a deal killer. I should just buy an unlocked galaxy nexus and go to straight talk. Get ****ed, Sprint.

Sprint has never pulled this bs before! I honestly could have dealt with all of the other factors, but an embedded sim card? really? I actually use my phone overseas, I'm not paying those outrageous roaming fees. Then to have the iPhone have an unlocked sim (or unlock able), is a slap in the face. It makes no sense.

Honestly I would be fine with an embedded battery if it was a huge battery. Give me the Razr Maxx battery and I couldn't be happier. Motorola made two mistakes that completely wiped this phone off of my radar.

Are there anymore international phones on the horizon?

I've seen you and others make this comment. What about the current MoPho battery is bad in your case? I couldn't be happier with the battery life on my current MoPho - in fact it totally wipes out the other phones among my friends in terms of battery life.

I realize it is about the same size as the Droid 4 (if I have the specs right) but I am not complaining about size at all - just the fact it is not removable. Though that seems to be the way phones are starting to go now, which I find *very* annoying.

I need to read more before I post stuff myself. I didn't even notice the drop in onboard memory (who would suspect a downgrade?) and I certainly missed the integrated battery and SIM card. WTF Moto? The battery I can understand, they have precedent for that with their last several phones. But an integrated GSM SIM card? Seriously? I don't care if they've boosted the "business" features, that's utter BS. No globetrotting businessman/woman is going to buy this thing. About the only thing they did get right was a way to unlock the bootloader.

Sigh. Sprint and Motorola, I am disappoint.

As a globetrotting business man I'm going to +1 that statement.

The ONLY way I would see this as passable is if and ONLY if Sprint brings back that $40 unlimited international data plan they had for blackberrys. If that is the case I would just route all my calls via skype while I am overseas, if not I will honestly have to look elsewhere.

In the first time in 10 years I am honestly seriously considering other options. I just hope sprint comes out with another world phone. Here is hoping for the next Nexus is a world phone.

Oh, that's definitely not the impression I wanted to make. I just prefer a removable battery, if it's the same capacity as the current MoPho. Considering that most of the non-removable batteries in the market have bigger capacities, it's just strange to me that it would be the same size as the current MoPho and not be removable. Just for instance, as decent of battery life as I get out of my current phone, I still have a routine where I have a second battery waiting for me at home that I just swap out at the end of the day. Battery life has never been an issue for me, it's just for comparison sake, 1700+mah, non-removable vs. 1700+mah removable...there's really no logic, especially considering what Motorola had done with the Razr Maxx, Atrix HD, and upcoming Razr Maxx HD. It's just odd.

I got the email today from motorola about it...

What a freaking joke....almost exact same features/specs... 1 year later...

as much as simcha hates samsung....they have the best phone out now by far....in GSIII

I mean 2 gig of ram....bout time...

to bad..because the 1st photon was a really good phone...

I can't think of any time I really needed more than a gb of RAM.

As for the screen, it's impossible to judge until we see in person. We don't know if it's Pentile or traditional RGB. I also am not a fan of the amoled series with how dim they are. My eyes quickly adjusted to the Pentile matrix and it doesn't bother me.

The imbedded battery and sim card is a deal breaker for me though. Luckily my upgrade isn't for another year.

Regarding the screen...I never had an issue with the Pentile matrix either, even though I did notice it when first purchasing the MoPho.

Nontheless, for those that do want to see better spec breakdown and/or pictures, Motorola's website is 10X's better than what Sprint did:

MOTOROLA PHOTON Q - 4G LTE Android Smartphone - SMARTACTIONS - ColorBoost - Motorola Mobility, Inc. USA

Another thing I just noticed was this little tidbit shared on the MoPhoQ spec page on Motorola's website:
VIDEO PLAYBACK RATE
Yes, 1080p capture and playback at 30 frames per second
Isn't that slow?

FF Camera detailed more:
WEB CAM
Yes, 1.3 MP HD web cam

I predict that if this is the only phone Motorola is releasing on Sprint for this year, there will be a very anemic response from customers. Perhaps Sprint is done with Motorola. I know I am if this is it.

I can't see Sprint being "done" with Motorola so quickly. The MoPho was the first Motorola Android superphone they ever offered before, so this really would only be the 2nd Android superphone Sprint has ever offered from Motorola. On top of that, Motorola is a Google-owned company now, so who knows what changes will be made later down the line that might encourage Sprint to offer better options from Motorola.

But i mean every other company except verizon gets one or 2 a year and verizon gets them all. But who knows things might change

man what a bummer. although I really did not plan on getting the 2nd generation Photon since I am loving my Galaxy Note and probably get the next version of that, it is sad to see that Motorola has once again lose touch with what the consumer really wants.

1-a non-removable battery
Well, since I always have my phones plugged in most of the time, it really isn't an issue, but for those that don't then this is a major blunder. Unless the battery is Razr like and lasts a long time.

2-Unlocked bootloader,
A little to late and its a promise that's been made previously that wasn't fulfilled on the original Photon.

3-No mention of Webtop.
Really Moto. The one unique thing you have and its not on this 2nd gen phone. (Although I do see the same ports so maybe just maybe)

4-Non removable Sim card.
Sucks for those that use their phone overseas. Now having to pay Sprint rates.

5-8GB from 16GB
In a world where more ram is the trend, Moto bucks it and goes the opposite direction. Really.

The more I read into it the more I get upset that Moto did this. Unless this device is a go in-between for another device that will be offered on the Now network (that is a true upgrade to the original Photon without a keyboard) and coming soon before the end of the year, then I see this as a very big blunder.

Most phones are limited to just 30 FPS stock and GoPro cameras usually record around there. If you root or a manufacturer decides to reduce the limit later you may get higher FPS.

On my GoPro I decided to go with the 720p @ 60 FPS just so I don't miss anything while racing on my bikes or in my truck.

Can't say that I have but as I sit the MoPho has done everything I've ever asked of it to a level I find more than acceptable. When my upgrade comes around if there's a good Moto phone ill probably upgrade to it. My experience with Samsung was just so bad I can't see myself spending $300 on a phone to go through that hell again.

Thanks for that info. For some reason, I thought phones more recently were being set at 50 fps stock, but the fps hasn't really been a big deal to me with the MoPho, so if that's set at 30fps, I guess that's fine.
