On a side note. The stock camera app used to auto-rotate in 1.5, does it not have this capability anymore in 2.1? I noticed it stays static in landscape mode.

It seems that they've added a drag down screen w/a settings option. try unchecking the "widescreen" option and taking a few pictures to see if that helps. I'm actually really liking the added camera features, too.

Tried it. Per OTD it seems to be way it is. Not really a complaint just trying to check if this was normal behavior in 2.1. But yeah, the added features in the camera app are more easily accessible and work best!

well now that you have been proved wrong, anyone have a way of getting rid of the virus? I'm gonna try that malware bytes thing when i get home. Hope it works

Had similar thing happen on another site a short while back. Ran System Restore and it took care of it. I'm running Win7 btw...

If I wanted to restore my phone back to 1.5 how would I do that? After updating I think I can wait for the official update, I feel safer about that...

I did the system restore, ran malwarebytes, Kaspersky, avg and nothing. Downloaded MS essentials and that found two trojans and cleared them out. I hope I am good to go now. Only time will tell

I was using a shinny new sony vaio and was able to clean the virus, but left my system and all my apps messed up so I ended up doing a factory reset and that took care of it. Was harsh but did the trick.

2.) My photo album seems to be the same as in 1.5. I thought there was supposed to be a flashy new photo gallery with a 3D tilt feature.
3.) The music player also seems to be the same as 1.5. I read in other posts people mentioning they liked the new music app.

Anybody having the same experience, or am I missing something? Love to hear what everybody that leaped into this new leak have to say. Thanks!

so, after watching this thread since the OP created it, waiting to see what issues may arise, I flashed my phone tonight. everything is working great so far. I did lose a couple of apps I paid for though, which I see other people reporting, the only one I really want back is my IMDB app.

the gallery is an app ported from the nexus one. its not part of the 2.1 for eris. i have it and it works wonderful however theres an FC issue when going directly to the camera. search for "gallery_flan.apk" it may say its for the Hero but it works on both


oh and the music app is a download from the market. hold on ill find it and post the link

for sure. the UI is extremely laggy. the organization of the music itself seemed very un-userfriendly to me. the widget also seemed very cluttered and had a few issues.
it may look nice in the screenshots and on the surface but its not. i believe its still in beta though. good potential but it needs work

hey, so you guys know, get more htc widgets isnt a big deal. i typed in HTC in marketplace, all those widgets come up.

also, sorry for those getting viruses? not on my part, its megaupload, i have a mac so i didnt get anything or was aware to even warn people. sorry for that. i think megaupload starting seeing the quickness of people downloading and deciding to put something on the link haha. but, i had no part in that, someone suggested i used megaupload, so i did.

ya im on a mac too. i was on of the first to test it and had no idea about the viruses they were talking about. it worked perfectly for me when i tried it.

and yes. the get more htc widgets link is just a short list of the same apps that you can find in the market.

The Skype app isn't available in the market for leakers. If you have to download the .apk and install it manually.

OK, I downloaded the .apk Skype file & installed it on my Eris using Astro.

Works like a dream! Thank you ....

Now, if only I could get SWYPE to work on the leak 2.1 .... get the darn screen res error!

I was the same way. I installed a leak OS onto my Blackberry and it was terrible. After installing the new leak 2.1 on my Eris I am so happy with the results. No kidding. Everything, and I seriously mean everything, works as it should. I'm just glad I did't install a previous leak. Thanks to zxphenomenalxz!

Well the sound issue finally made its debut. This is a crippling bug that kills the phone for me....not cool. Oh well, should have waited for OTA, but I like shiny new things too much.

What sound issue is hitting you now? Personally I've had sound issues with the phone when I was running stock 1.5

Ditto that. To me, the "sound bug" isn't new; it was there in 1.5. It's just something that happens once in a while when switching quickly from one sound source to another, or when an app (either downloaded or system) hangs while accessing the microphone or speaker.
