What is your background with Android development? What work have you done previously??

The reason I ask these questions isnt intended to insult you or anything like that. But there has been a rash of people popping up self proclaiming themselves as devs to only let down the community with lies, repost of mods already posted numerous times all over the internet, or theming others roms and then claiming them as their work (some giving the ROM maker/Dev credits & others not).

I personally have no issues with new people wanting to learn to develop, and welcome it. What I do mind, as well as others, is people deciding they are a dev with no history of being such, no work to prove such, and expecting to be allowed to call themselves a dev w/o earning it.

Hope you understand. ;)

I would love to learn... i haven't touch a line of code for almost 20 years but i'm a former real time programmer (also did some games ;) in my old time). i'm a former computer engineer so i am pretty sure i can put some code together.

But frankly, it would be like i have to start from scratch... i know nothing about android and its development environments. if you can refer me some good books to start with, i can try to get back to it.

YouTube and the cyanogen forums can help a lot. Also, check out the guides on xda.
