Metro speeds n throttles

Metro employee disclosed the following:

$40 4g plan throttles after 250mb
$50 4g plan throttles after 2.5gb
$60 4g plan throttles after 5gb

$70 4g plan throttles after 25gb despite claiming its unlimited.

Well, say at home...in lieu of broadband subscription...no free wifi around.....

In their terms of service it says they can cut of service if it's causing a strain on their network or degrading the service of other users. I would think 25GB would do that.

I would set the "unlimited" limit at 25Gb of data. Wifi is your friend

But 25gb screams tethering so it wouldn't be a shocker if they set a limit there. Technically the cell phone companies don't like us tethering. It may even be in the TOS. You are supposed to pa extra for it at least.

You'd have to look at the policy then. There could be a different cap with tethering. Considering how much the average employee knows I wouldn't even trust this information. So not sure where one would get the info then.


But I wouldn't put it past most of the wireless companies to declare that range abuse of the tethering policy, even if you are paying the $10 extra. That isn't just casually running a few devices here and there. That is running a home's primary internet usage through the phone.

very true im sure we have heard all those teens with nothing to do trying to see how limited their plans were ended up sending over 20,000 txt in one month and ended up having their service terminated some got a huge bill i think all carriers are using the word unlimited too lightly.

It isn't so much misuse of the word. It is more that, legally, the words refer to th average user. Sort of like "all you can eat" doesn't necessarily mean all you can eat for some people. They take a base standard for normal usage. "Unlimited" simply means the average user wouldn't hit the limit.
