Root [ROM/CWM/OC-KERNEL] [OA]2.3.20-[FINAL] CRICKET+MPCS [Updated: 09/23/12]

GPS problems are mostly related to google. I've been having the exact same problems even before the rom. Some updates fixes it, other updates brings it back

That I can believe. Last nav update settled gps out a bit, but now google nav hard locks/crashes the phone if used for more than say 10-15 minutes at a time. In the taxi I drive, it was unusable...so its back to magellan for road warrior stuff. :D

Are we certain that this has been changed to 800mhz? I have a lazy admire and I'm having the same problem at booting as i do with all the 900mhz ROM's. Please reply ASAP, i really have been wanting this ROM

*Edit
well well well, shit just got legit. so when i first flashed this ROM, it didn't occur to me that i should upgrade to 2.3.6 for a 2.3.6 ROM -____- can someone say herp derp? lol so i upgraded, got cwm, rooted the phone, got the cwm required, then flashed the ROM, first boot it stalled and didn't turn, then it rebooted itself and now, WAALAA! its on and working. time to go for the test drive :D

*Edit
*sigh* it appears i spoke to soon. within 2 minutes the ROM froze and wouldn't respond no matter how long i waited, or how many times i rebooted. so i flashed the voltage control to see if I could clock it to 648 or something, and it was just looping the boot animation. I'm gonna have to go back to stock until whatever problem or glitch this ROM is having is resolved, or maybe it's just my phone. bleeehhh.... can someone inform me on whether or not you can flash themes and tweaks (such as beats by dre) on the stock rom? I'm on 2.3.6, I'm rooted and have CWM

This rom works perfect for me I did find though you need to run the mms fix on the first boot of the newly flashed rom BEFORE you program using *228 if i do the fix after that it still makes no difference. I did though uninstall the Voltage Control program and replace it with Juice Defender Ultimate and instead use the CPU freq control within that and it runs much smoother I have had my phone on and unplugged for 14 hours now with moderate use today and am now at 50% battery left haven't been able to achieve this with any other rom on any other phone.

I tried installing and followed all the steps perfectly, but when I boot into it, I can't get past the boot animation. It just stays frozen and vibrates a lot....the way it does when an app stops responding. I'm assuming this means that my phone can't handle the 800Mhz cpu. Anyway I can turn it down to maybe 200? I cant use an app obviously....

Well actually you don't have to be on 2.3.6 to flash a rom that's on 2.3.6. I was on 2.3.4 when i flashed this. It's nothing wrong with the rom. I know because i use it a lot. Also voltage control is already included in the rom so you don't need to flash it? What are the exact steps you're doing?

I had to get a replacement phone after I installed the zip with CWM 5.0.2.7. Can anybody tell me what went wrong? I'm dying to try this ROM but I fear that it will brick my new phone too.

Well there's your problem. You need 5.0.2.8 to install this rom. You didn't need to get a new phone lol all you had to do was go into download mode and flash back to stock.

Your phone can handle the 800mhz cpu since the admire is automatically oc'd to 800mhz. You may be doing something wrong. List all your steps. Even though you say you're following the steps perfectly you may be doing something wrong

Thank you so much for the info. I knew that I had to flash the phone back to stock but I forgot to do a backup and then my phone was the hotspot so I couldn't even download the stock ROM.But thanks anyhow. :)

Edit*1 Also does somebody know where to get CWM 5.0.2.8 because spz0's link is broken.

Edit*2 Don't mind edit one the link works.

I cleared everything, flashed the kernel, rebooted into recovery, and flashed the rom.

Thanks! I went with link2sd and freed up about 40mb
I forgot CWM lets you partition the card, So I did that and made an ext in case anyone needs link2sd too

Glad it worked for ya. I use DTA2SD. Works well for me. I typically have about 60 megs free and I have about 20 apps downloaded and installed. I have a little homescreen lag here and there, but otherwise it works great.

I just setup link2sd and went from 26meg to over 136meg free. (I paritioned the 8gig sd card into a 5/3 fat32 and used the app to link.) Its like a brand new phone with shiz tons of room for applications/data/etc. With the link/2nd partition, now when I plug in usb I don't lose the apps either as the 2nd part stays mounted. 'bout as happy a camper as I can be with this Vitality now. :-D

You didnt partition it for EXT4? It runs a lot faster than FAT32. Maybe Im not reading it right though :)

No. I used fat32 for specific 'read-across' platforms reasons. I have several devices/OS's, a couple of which do not read ext4, so this is more for convenience and portability. I'm very happy with the performance even with fat32 at this point. (besides all the system stuff is on ext4, so there is that.)

So far after a couple of days o' bangin' on this, I wish I'd have stumbled upon this utility with my old Ascend phone. That drove me batshiz always juggling apps to keep the low space indicator at bay. :D

I am new to all this. I rooted on my first try, on my first android phone. I did the Monster 4. I notice on a lot of the other roms, they direct you to clear things before installing. Like the davlik, and cache. Is that a habit to do with all roms, or only if the instalation calls for it? I want to follow these directions to the t, but I don't want to mess up if clearing data and formatting is common knowledge that I don't know yet. Thanks

Nevermind, the more I read, the more I see the answer. But, I am having the problem of occasional vibrating and shutting down. Well it vibrates, then freezes, the reboots, and just has the intro repeat and vibrates the whole time until I manually shut down. It seems I have done everything as directed and it still does it. I have the Admire Metro PCS. The rom I love. I just flashed it last night and today it is pretty stable. I did the freeze vibrate on me once today, but two or 3 times it started to vibrate, and I canceled what I was doing before it frooze (thats assuming it was going to), and was good to go. Ill wait and see if it freezes anymore, but so far my steps are...

I flashed CM8, rebooted, cleared all as per the instructions on roms, flashed zip from sd card, flashed MMS fix from sd card, rebooted, updated apps. If anyone sees that I am missing anything, please let me know.

BTW, thanks for the roms and instructions. You all are very helpful. First time I have had an android (never even had an iPhone), and you all helped me to not brick my phone. THe key was reading a ton before attempting this. So I read for a month or so before I got the guts up (as I am not well off in the cash department). But all it takes is following instructions and good to go.

not sure if this fixed it, but I went into voltage and switched to 800. I did that a second time because I noticed it went back up to 900. I realized I didn't save the first time and when I rebooted, it shot back up. So I saved it this time, and so far no freezes. I hate to speak too soon, but that may have fixed my problem. it is running really, really smooth with no hiccups.

Good Afternoon, I'm somewhat of a noob and I have a question. I have been rooting my phones for a while and this is my first time attempting to install a custom ROM. I have a rooted Admire and wanted to know if the instructions for MPCS install assume that cwm is already installed or can I just follow the instructions as written? Thanks in advance.

Follow the instructions on the first page to install CWM as well

Does anyone know how to install Muve Music because my phone is on the plan and I'm literally wasting money as I type. So I ask of help. Any help will be appreciated.
Regards,
GiveVitality

P.S. I'm trying to install on OA 2.3.12.

How are you going about installing it? I think you can extract it from the stock ROM and put it in the /System/Apps folder using Root Explorer. Make sure permissions are set correctly, reboot. You can also remap the camera button back to Muve. I think there's a tut on how to map the hard keys.

Did you try any of this??
