^^^^^ and 2x^^^^^^

Edit: So far I have not been able to figure out a linux version because the phone will not get recognized, under any setting. It will straight charge through USB but only because the USB port has power to it.

I followed the instructions, and there is a video you can watch but read the instructions FIRST, the vid should help you because it leaves some things out.

I have a dool-booted laptop, and had to use Windows 7 to do this. One thing I did notice is that when runnning this app it automatically installs SuperSU where I usually use SuperUser.

Any reason to think that program that came during the root might not be safe. A simple update should fix any errors correct?

Ok, i had it rooted, and then I started deleting stuff and f***** it up. then I installed minecraft pocket addition now it won't come off in the ads keep coming up. now I'm trying to route again to just get rid of that 1 program and it won't allow me to. Keeps saying /data/local.prop, no such directory found. anybody have a clue what's going on now

It's awesome you guys found a root so quickly. I doubt I'll root mine though because I was able to uninstall most bloat via Application Manager (the main reason I rooted my OM), freeze other unwanted things, and the battery gets pretty good life.

I like most of the stock features so I don't feel a need to trick it out with custom themes/roms.

Are there any benefits to rooting aside from those I mentioned?

There's several reasons. Top of my list is being able to run adfree. Ability to back apps up. Build prop tweaks. IPtable firewall. Knowing that you are cooler than everyone else lol :p.

Plenty more but those are probably most important to me.

Ability to change bootanimations/bootsounds, ability to run ROOT only capable apps, ability to screenshot without LG's watermark....I don't like the watermark. Ability to place apps in /system/app to run as a system app....root lets you do a lot, and whatever you do to accidentally soft brick can easily be resolved ;)
