Root [How-To] Re-enable OTA updates in your custom ROM

So you want to see if you're gonna get the OTA update tonight, but running a custom ROM? Well, here's the file required to re-enable OTA updating (I'm sure by now, it's been removed from every custom ROM):

otacerts.zip

Place it in your working directory, and using adb:

adb shell mount -o remount,rw /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
adb push otacerts.zip /system/etc/security/
adb reboot

There are other ways, of course, such as using root explorer. Just make sure you get otacerts.zip into the /system/etc/security/ folder.

...and if any of you get the update tonight at midnight...YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO!

What if we use this method and get the update pushed to our phone and don't actually want to install it, but just upload it for people who do? If I download the update but don't use it is my phone going to be nagging me to install the update all the time?

Honestly, I don't know if it'll bug you all the time if you select 'install later'.

...but after you upload the update.zip file, you can just delete otacerts.zip from your phone and it shouldn't bug you anymore.

Couldn't this just be done using Astro or Terminal Emulator?
