I temporarily have 4G on my Galaxy SII and it's zapping my battery like crazy. Sure, it's nice to have my email notifications instantly appear; but other than that, I think I would rather have my battery life back than something I don't really use often.

i'm still on the fence on the LTE thing. on the one hand, it's a feature i might not ever use; but on the other hand, it's nice to have it just to have the choice, especially since i don't really change phones all that often.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm still debating getting one without LTE since I don't really need LTE and AT&T has hspa+ which is good enough for me. If that was 32GB or 64GB I might dive right into that.

What I'm thinking about doing is using ATT StraightTalk for $45 a month. It doesn't support LTE so it doesn't make a difference to me.

Re StraightTalk $45 / mo - I tried it, dont recommend it.

I got a Straight Talk SIM for an old iPhone 3G last month to try for month, and anytime I wander more than 30 miles away from home, all I get is "Access Denied" messages in the web browser. And the Straight Talk support is the worst -

So it looks like I will I'll be stuck with AT&T, and I really want to upgrade my current iPhone 4 to a 64GB Note 2 - or at least a 32GB Note 2, but my research indicates only the 16 GB version will be available in the USA.

Seems the US Carriers are intending to use the argument that more than 16GB memory is not needed today due to cloud computing - I say horse puky.
Cloud computing is just a new profit center for the carriers

I work in electronics, and I suspect a thriving industry will emerge for anyone with a surface mount rework station for ball grid IC packages - They can swap the 16GB chip for a 64GB chip for a fee.

And the SD card memory will always be slower than the soldered down flash chip on the internal PC board.

I grow weary of some corporate exec at AT&T restricting my access to the latest technology.

^Yeah that's dumb. I don't like to do cloud storage and I personally sideload too many video.files and picture files many of which I found cloud storage will simply not accept. or maybe its something I'm doing wrong???

Anyways the fact that the carriers are dictating this to their consumers is just another assnine reason for them to make more money off of data charges...I hate capitalism sometimes...to hell with this I'm moving to Canada for some freedom here in Amurikah!

As a user in an area that supports both 4G and LTE (I currently get a full day on my Note, unless I use it heavily) I want these speeds. Im under the impression that they wouldn't build a device without the LTE chip as that would be somewhat dumb. The Amazon page doesnt list the cellular capabilities of the device and you all seem to have a statement to make about how you dont want LTE. So my question, does the one on Amazon have LTE or not? I don't wanna buy it to find out it only has 3G (which I doubt) yall just made it a bit confusing and I don't want to make a mistaken purchase.

Next time try not to be condescending. Nowhere on the page does it state any details about the cellular capabilities of the device. I got a better answer on Reddit and with less attitude than I did your short answer. How do you know what it does/doesn't support if it isn't listed on the page and they make several different iterations of the device for various parts of the world?

I would bet that before the end of the year I'll be able to buy the note ii with on T-Mobile with my value plan for 0-100 down plus the 20x20 payments over 20 months (400-500 total). I'm willing to wait a few months for a few hundred dollars savings.

It's not that simple. You also have to check frequencies as there are multiple frequencies for both technologies and the note ii international only supports some. For instance, it won't work on T-Mobile's current HSPA+ (other than the 1900 MHz they have in a few places like Las Vegas).

Works on ATT out of the box and TMo 2G edge until they finsih refarming the network spectrum.

You can always disable LTE and just use the CDMA or GSM radio for 3G if battery is a concern and speed is not that important. You'll also have the option to enable it if you temporarily need a high speed connection (I refuse to use "4G" when referring to LTE because it isn't, but that's another topic all together).

The international version does not support the LTE bands currently implemented in the US (700 MHz Band 13 for VZW, 1900 MHz for Sprint, and 700 MHz band 17 for ATT). The US versions (save for T-Mobile since they only use HSPA+ and not LTE) will have LTE radios. They may have the same baseband chip but use different antenna for the specific network on which it was designed to run.

They can't just say no warranty can they? I.e. if you unlock the boat loader then probably. Look at the moto developer versions, only if you unlock them do you forfeit your warranty.
