Help Phone keeps rebooting

I have a Droid 3. Recently, I was taking pictures on my photo thing then I got an error message like "image space seems full". Then my phone shut off.

Now it won't turn on because it keeps rebooting. When I turn it on, it shows the DROID logo and the audio "DROIIIID" then goes to the red futuristic-looking technology cylindrical blob.

The blob turns its gears and whatnot for a while (2-3 mins) then goes back to DROID logo and keeps looping.

I don't know what to do.... thank you.

I don't know if this will work, but you can *try* wiping the cache partition.

With the phone powered off, slide the keyboard open. Press and hold the "X" keyboard key while you power on the phone. After the "Dual Core" screen, this should eventually start the Recovery - a triangle with an exclamation point.

At this point, slide the keyboard closed. Press the two volume buttons at the same time - this will start a blue text menu. Use the Volume Dn key to move the menu down to "wipe cache partition" and press the "power" button on top to select it. This will show yellow text saying "wiping cache".

When the menu returns, press "Power" on the "Reboot system now". See if that works.

Do you happen to have a microSD card in the phone now? If not, do you have one that you can put in?

(I'm trying to avoid suggesting a factory data reset, which will wipe the phone of all data and apps, as long as possible... but I'm afraid that may be the ultimate solution.)

Based on your description, it appears that the internal storage location filled. I didn't think that this would cause a boot failure, but perhaps that is what is doing it. I don't know of a way to access it without the phone actually running, though.

It is also possible, though, that the error that you received in the camera app was a symptom that the flash storage in the whole phone has gone bad, and, in that case, even a factory data reset may not help.

Anyway, if you do have an SD card in the phone, try pulling it. If you do not, but you have an available card, try putting one in.

No, I do not have a microSD card in my DROID3.

Sorry, I can't think of anything else to do except a factory reset. Note that this wipes the phone of all apps and data, and if the phone restarts, you'll be prompted to reset as if the phone was new. Use the same procedure that I listed above (hold "X" while powering on, press both volume buttons) but choose the option "wipe data/factory reset".

You can reinstall all of your apps by using a PC browser to go to https://play.google.com/apps (after the phone is activated on your Google account) - you can install them on the web and they will install on the phone over the air within a few minutes.

After you get the phone running, you would want to connect it to your PC and choose to mount the phone to your computer to look at the internal storage. If there is no space left, you'll want to remove some of your files to leave some space.
