I'm having a rediculous amount of issues. Its a shame I really want to love the phone.
For one my phone has big issues with the camera it takes several minutes for pics to show up even after trouble shooting with a verizon rep. I get quite a few force closes. I hate the 2.1s notification light that doesn't blink when the displays lite. I've had issues where I had to restart before and after update. Once my icons disapeared today my icons refused to take me where they're supposed to. I hate that my internal memory seems to shrink costantly. I know many of these seem small but they add up and I've only had the phone 2 weeks. I'm debating trying a blackberry or palm device? Can I get help? Thanks

I'd prefer my Droid over any other phone. But, I'd probably wait on another phone to hit Verizon that is still on the android os, I hear that the Incredible is coming soon. But thats just me. No way I'd ever go back to a Blackberry, and I've never had a palm, but I don't think I would like those either from everything I have heard. But just my opinion though.

I haven't heard a lot of people having issues with the Droid, but also keep in mind that the majority of people posting on the forums are looking for a fix to a bug or problem.

No one come on here and posts "hey, my Droid is running great!"

Also keep in mind Android is still brand new in comparison to other OS, so there are a lot of room for improvement given time. I'd try to get another Droid if you like the phone or wait for the N1?

Problem I have with HTC is their quality isn't that great... Good luck and keep us updated.

Yeah I had just hoped android would be a bit better however I think with the droid they rushed, its very evident in the update. I don't want to root it I wish I had the guts to but I've had bad experiences with computers. Its tough becausr many features I love and would miss but the issues are geting worse also if I get a replacement and I have another issue my 30 days will be up. I hate these 2 year contracts

There is also the option of reflashing it back to stock and installing 2.1 again. If you aren't comfortable with rooting though you might not be comfortable with that.

As a former root noob I can tell you that rooting is MUCH easier than you think.

Your problems could also be caused by weird app conflicts. What apps do you have installed?

I doubt they'll extend the 30-day worry-free gurantee. If you happen to have more problems with the 2nd Droid, you can always call VZW's customer support. Explain the situation to them, and they will replace it under factory warrenty.

Note though, this is different than the worry free gurantee. You won't be able to switch devices.

It sounds like you have a bad chipset?

Good luck with your situation.

The Palm Pre Plus is way faster then ther droid which is one of the reasons why im getting the Palm then The Droid. And the Pre is way Cheaper then what it used to be the only downside is the market but i really dont use My HTC Droid eris for the market. I may have at least 8 apps at the most on my phone and only use 2 lol i could care lest about android market but for some its a big decision maker

I'm not sure of the issues you're having but like previous posts, I think you just got a bum phone. I have over 50 apps on my phone and have had this droid since launch day in november. Not one single problem. Andd as far as verizon not replacing your phone just complain dude. I have scratches on this phone and wanted a new one.. I told verizon there was an issue with the screen. They sent me a replacement, 3 of them actually, all of them refurbs, finally I escalated to a supervisor and they sent me a brand new phone in the box..

Insurance won't cover that anyway. Thats for if you lose or break it or it gets stolen.

If it were me I'd probably do a factory reset (cache/data wipe) before taking it back.

Well actually I'd root and put a custom rom on it because its so much smoother and more stable :p but you get my drift.
so you lose all the apps and stuff on the phone?

so you lose all the apps and stuff on the phone?

You will have to redownload apps. Some stuff is saved to your gmail account such as contacts. Apps you've paid for you have to download again but you don't have to pay again.

The only reason I say this is because if you exchange the phone you're going to lose everything anyway.

If there was a way to just wipe the cache with the stock recovery mode I'd recommend that instead, but that's something you'd need to root for as well.

FYI - Beyond 30 days, it's unlikely VZW will swap to another phone. They will send you Droids til your eyes are purple, but "usually" not another.
I convinced them to send me a different phone after I had mad issues with a dumbphone, but I still needed to make up a bit of $ difference, even though I was technically downgrading.

I would suggest either: rooting and custom ROM OR call VZW and have them send you a refurb (those can be of better quality since they are looked over by human hand)

And insurance will only swap to the same phone (to the last of my knowledge).

Unless you dropped your phone in water and don't want to get caught - just call VZW and get another. Just slow down on the apps, sometimes it's apps that cause issues but many don't understand this because one day the phone was fine and the next not --- but they don't understand that the 25 apps they downloaded in one day could contain the culprit.

LOVED MY PALM PRE PLUS! but returned it due to the shittiest battery ever. Blackberry's are o..k very boring and dont really do anything but email well. Ive had almost every phone ( not joking ) on AT&T and almost all verizons smartphones except windows mobile based ones and the droid seems to be the best besides my iphone

1 Iphone
2 Droid
3 Palm Pre Plus
