I did ask this in another post, however I noticed I really screwed up my gallery so I decided to create a topic on it.

When I opened up my Gallery after the 2.1 update, I had 2 seperate folders called downloads, and my videos were mixed in under the SD card folder alond with all my standard pics.

So i mounted the sd card and created folders called Pics, Camera, Videos, and Downloads. I unmounted the phone and opened up the gallert and NOTHING :(
I can remount the phone and pull them all out into loose files, but I did notice that if I open up my photosafe all my immages show up under public files, but not in the new gallery...Please help me figure this out

Regards

You need to delete your thumbnails.

Just delete all the files under albumthumbs when your mounted via usb.

then unmount fire up gallery. it will then rebuild all the thumbnails for your entire sdcard.

add an empty txt file named .nomedia to directorie syou don't want it to index.

Your Android-foo is extraordinary, Thank you so much

I updated and now my photo gallery icon has changed to a green android guy and when i go to use it, it informs me that this app is not installed on my phone.

This app was a great way to quickly find pics and videos, but now i'm just going thru the camera to see old photos and videos.

Any help on how to get the old version back would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

K

Are you going based on the icon on your home screen or the app drawer? I've been rooted and on 2.1 for a while, but IIRC some of the home shortcuts get broken during the update. Just go into the app drawer and place it back on the home screen.

If it's the one in the app drawer then I don't know how to help you.

Thanks Binglejellsx2. I moved the gallery in the app drawer to my desktop, opened it up and now realize that there is no "video" category within this gallery. It used to be, pics, videos, all media, etc. Now it's just camera, download, ringtones(?) and wallpapers. Any idea on how to scope out video thumbnails? Thanks again,
-K
