Don't Limit Yourself to S2.....

I bought one back in late November after T-day for $299 (they were $369 at the time). While I liked ICS (big improvement over Gingerbread) my phone had terrible reception problems, especially with the wifi antenna. I worked with Boost and Samsung tech support to try and get it resolved, but tin the end they both admitted that these are know issues with the S2 and probably not just a problem with my phone. I returned it to Best Buy.

Now that I'm tuned into phone flashing, I would never buy a S2 for $299 when you can get a like-new S3 for the same money and then pay someone to flash it to Boost for you. That's always been one of the big downsides to prepaid--the phone selection usually sucks. But now you can buy any CDMA phone you want and just have it flashed to Boost.

I want to be mad u just dissed our phone but at the same time I get it. But then u have no 4g which I use a lot. And I would do it more for the newer phone not because this phone has problems. Cruz mine and many others Dont have that issue. I'm dealing with a help thread now of a guy with a flashed to boost phone issue with no data. And I'm sure its because of the flash from sprint not the antenna. Seems a little unreliable

I think it depends upon who you buy it from. Check their feedback score--if they've got good feedback then they are probably good to deal with.

I used a company that's been in business for like 6 years, and they did a great job.

FYI, when doing a side-by-side comparison between my Boost S2 and my new HTC Evo 4G LTE which I'm using on Verizon prepaid, the HTC's download speeds were always 3-4 times faster than Boost's 4G--at least that's the deal where I live.....

Personally I am quite happy with my S2 and am not having any issues with it WiFi or 3g/4g. I am sorry you have had a bad experience with your phone, but many of us use it just fine with no problems.

As far as buying a phone off of Ebay, I would not trust that for CDMA phones (the whole serial number being used for another phone thing)

i am very happy with my S2, except for the battery issue, but is good so far.

Buying on ebay with those promises, uhhhh? i dont know, you are taking a big chance and risk if you do

I was extremely happy with my S2 until I dropped it on Friday and broke the screen. Not having insurance and needing another phone, i walked into my local Southern-Cali boost mobile store. An older gentleman in his 40's greeted me and I told him my situation. he told me I had a few options...

this is where it gets interesting...This Boost mobile Employee at a official Boost Mobile store told me I can either purchase another phone at a discounted rate of $199.99 OR I can bring in any CDMA phone and they will flash it over for me. I froze for a moment and asked him to repeat himself. He told me again my options. EVEN AN IPHONE 5, NOTE2, etc......

So food for thought..Boost Mobile can flash over CDMA phones to the network. Keep in mind if its a non wi-max phone you will not be able to access 4G, but whatever as I use WIFI at home,work,school,etc...

So I flashed over a Galaxy S3 and I couldn't be more happier with my decision..

Here is the thing. Flashing phones is more possible now because they opened up the portal to older Sprint phones. Though if they do an ESN trace, and find your phone to not be compatible, they will flag your account. That means you'll be suspended until you get a different phone on your account. All suspended accounts will be automatically terminated in 30 days unless they become active again.

I've seen this happen personally to a few people. The likelihood of it happening to you? Pretty slim, but I'm just letting you know from an insider perspective.

Also, changes coming our way. I'd say by March or April we may just have a little more competitive edge coming. I'm just quoting my regional rep, let's hope that's true. We need some newer handsets. Especially since Sprint has made their own pay as you go now... Competing with their own subsidiaries. Smh...

P.S I still love my SII.

I've read many reviews on the S2 and I bought it KNOWING that it works. The S2 is a nice older simple phone and could do anything (if more) then an iPhone, or maybe even an S3 (not counting a couple more enhancements that the S3 has over the S2). A phone is a phone, obivously you don't have good connection where you are, you didn't tell us where you're located so it's hard to figure out you're issue. In some areas it's spotty, in others it's perfect. Do you ever take you're battery out, and put it back in? Or restart when you have bad connection?

I checked out Sprint's pay as you go. It is 70 dollars per month for smartphone service, so not much competition there. They do include roaming though, but if you roam too much they will drop you.
