Well, I basically ended up REALLY bored... And this is what happened. I found my old lego collection that I havent touched in years.. And yeah. :p

Made this so I can play games and stuff with a controller, or to use a wireless keyboard and mouse with, without having to hold the phone in an awkward position.

It is designed to work with my extended battery backplate plus rubber case. I could not find a dock that is designed for the flat TPU extended battery covers and cases, So I made one.

I made it with a powered OTG cable inside. It DOES charge my phone and the USB device at the same time, Using the buttered toast kernel and the appropriate ROM.

Still a work in progress and isnt perfect, But is working for the moment. I may end up spray painting it all one color. :p

That's just plain badass.

Are you going to take it apart, and glue it back together once you finalize the design?

Yeah. One of these days I will pull it apart carefully, Taking pictures along the way for just incase I mess it up somehow or it falls apart in my hands, And glue it and paint it most likely flat black. Not sure how gloss black would look on this.

I may even make a guide on how to make this. It is made out of simple blocks, without anything fancy except for the swivel point for the backrest. Of course you will need your own powered OTG cable to put inside. :p

Well, I found 1 flaw.

Being a OTG cable, It doesnt have data lines in the power plug on the side, Meaning I cannot set the phone in the dock to transfer files to the computer. :(

I was thinking of a way to maybe wire it up to do so, But if I was to plug something into the female OTG port, It might mess things up. :stupido2: Maybe a switch on the back or something would work though.

More thought is needed.

Edit: Hmm. I wonder If i had a male to male adapter, And hooked the phone up to the computer through the OTG port, If that would work for transferring data. That fixes the problem about worrying about frying something.

+1 for a guide.

You could also use it as a dock by bed! Hell, that's what I'd use it for. Considering I'm not a gamer these days.

The only game I play is like...Words with Friends.

If I play any games, Its the emulators. Been playing old PS1 games and snes games.

But it is also VERY good for movies. Plug in a 32Gb USB stick full of movies, And BAM! a cradle to watch all kinds of movies in, While its charging! :D

It could be used as a regular dock if you wanted to. Just replace the OTG cable with a shorter micro USB extention soldered to make a "dock cable", Enabling the phone to think its resting in a dock and switching to dock mode.

Ill have to take this apart tomorrow and make a guide. May take a few days, Depending on if I end up busy or not. But I will definitely make one. :p

This is easily one of the coolest & most unique things I've seen since being in the Android scene. LOVE IT, and would love to have a design :)

Chances are that you could make a blog about this and sell the design for $0.99 or something, people would buy it for novelty factor alone.

Edited to add that I like the multicolor look personally, it adds nostalgic flavor.

Definitely wicked fresh. That's is one of the coolest ideas I have seen. We have a bag of legos from when the kids where younger . they would love to make something similar for their tablets I'm sure. Thanks for sharing that.

Tablets may be heavy with an awkward center of gravity. You may need something heavy in the base to keep it stable if you go that route.

I found a VERY cool lego instruction program for windows. Has almost EVERY single lego made. It is a little complicated, But I am getting the hang of it. Everything is done in 3D and whatnot.

Basically I think its going to take a few days to get everything just right. Then it saves as a PDF, With each step like it would be in a real lego instruction book!

I will keep going at it. :D

Just an update.

I have most of the steps down. They are pretty basic.

Only problem is, I cannot "create" the USB cable in this program to show you for obvious reasons(Same with the phone), So I will add notations and stuff to the images of where they are supposed to go.

I cut down the size by 4 "nubs" width wise and 1 "nub" depth wise, And a whole block and a half height wise!

I should have it all posted with a guide tomorrow!
