Hey guys, I've got news that isn't particular to us but could be good for us at the same time. As some of you may already know a post on Boost's website showed that the Venice, Rush, and Warp Sequent would be getting jelly bean 4.1. Of course it was taken down immediately and thought to be a mistake. Here's the good news, Venice owners have been popping up saying that they are officialey running Jelly Bean 4.1 via an OTA update. On top of that, Samsung has released the Jelly Bean 4.1 kernel for the Rush which likely means a JB OTA update is on its way. The Sequent is lagging behind but I assume ZTE is just keeping things under wraps. What does this mean for the Boost Force though? Being that this phone is one of Boost Mobile's most eligible phones for the update (hell Boost put their name on it), do you guys think we should be seeing an update soon? A Boost rep said that the Venice, Rush, and other devices should receive the JB update from May 16th-23rd. Fingers crossed and have patience. Also, tell me what you guys think..

Naw I'm satisfied with ics on my Force, runs well and battery is good life. :)

Cant say butter smooth doesn't sound good though lol. But ICS is alright. At Google I/O there was talk that Google wanted to start getting most if not all androids to the latest software. Of course its up to the manufacturer and carrier but Google wants everyone to have the best of what they got and not the shadow of it. A lot of phones are shipped out with Gingerbread still to this day and will never see an upgrade. Its almost sad... but its good to know that Google has at least said something about it.

yeah my wife has a s2 and she went from GB to ICS to JB, THe JB fixed the problems that ICS had thank god I was fixin to trade hers in when JB came out. She stuggled for months with glitches to ics then they sent an update 2 mo before JB and wiped her phone out, I was so mad.
I would welcome it if I didn't already have Root/Cust Recovery but most likely an update would fail with a CR.

That would be awesome. I am not complaining about ICS, I was running Gingerbread less than a month ago on the Prevail. However, I have been waiting for the Force to get that JB update. I did contact ZTE support not too long ago. In short, they told me to contact my carrier (Boost) about the inquiry. Unfortunately, I don't think that we will be getting JB when the others do. The Venice and others have been with Boost for a while now as opposed to the Force and One Sv which are relatively new. This is a sign that JB is in the near future though.

I can wait, but we better be getting 4.2.2, I would love boost forever <3

On a more serious note, the JB update could not only bring new features but fix other ones as well. I love the stock camera but the shutter sound is so freaken loud. I also like the touch and hold to unlock feature, but I wish they would give us the stock slide to unlock for 4.0 (or 4.1) especially because if we get 4.2, I want to use that widget unlock. And one last minor request is to have the option to be able to turn the am/pm off. I guess you could say I'm trying to make this thing the ZTE Nexus lol

Hello everyone

I am completely new to the smartphone scene so I have a few questions. My wife just got a Boost ZTE Force phone and I wanted to upgrade her to the latest OS. Is that possible with rooting the phone?

I tried going into the settings and did a firmware upgrade but it said there was none. Can I upgrade the OS myself or do I have to wait for boost to push one to the phone?

Thanks for your patience.

Sorry, you'll have to wait for Boost. We have root for the phone but we haven't started any development work yet so 4.1 and 4.2 are currently not available. It's still a solid phone though so your wife should be okay with 4.0 in the meantime. New phones like this usually take a little while to get some traction but trust me we're getting there.

I've noticed that with all the releases of android they just get dumber and dumber. They keep screwing the pooch and making the new releases more of a pain in the arse then they are worth.

I believe the dev community who does it for free on their time does a much better job of knowing intuitevly what a user needs rather then what they "MAY" want

As far as a 4.1 update goes, the One SV on cricket just got updated and the european version just got updated. The Boost Mobile One SV Should be next, i did take the liberty and ported over the Cricket One SV rom so the Boost users now have 4.1 but rumor has it there should be an OTA in the coming weeks. So there might be hope for you guys yet, don't hold me to it. You also have to look at ZTE's long standing track record of releasing a phone and letting it flail.

I'll tell you this, I do NOT want an upgrade at all. All they are doing is trying to break root. The One already come with 4.1.
We need to figure out how to prevent any updates that are pushed to a phone. Believe me the experience we have had with the S2 was pretty bad!!!!!

As someone mentioned, the interface is a lot smoother because jellybean instituted Project butter. Project butter adds to the speed and simplicity of ICS for JB.

Some of the major changes with Jellybean are:
Improved system performance

Faster orientation changes

Quicker switching between recent apps

Smoother and more consistent rendering across the system through vsync and triple buffering.

Boosts your device

Just an update, got official news that the sequent JB OTA will be rolling out starting monday. The 4g LTE phone HTC one sv is also getting to update to 4.1 starting on the 11th. Since the ZTE Force is one out of the 3 phones that has LTE capabilities, I wouldn't be surprise to see that you guys get updated to 4.1 too. Its just gonna take some time knowing ZTE. Hope to see you guys on 4.1 with us by fall. :D
