Root CWM 6032 upgrade freezes at splash screen

Well, I've done it now. Upgraded to 6032 and all went well until I tried to reboot and install a new ROM. The Samsung logo appears (but not followed by the SCH-R720 logo), then the tiny CWM Android logo, and that's where it freezes. I've tried redownloading/reflashing 6032, installing different ROMS with no change. No errors pop up, just the freeze. The cable is not a problem either (OEM that came with the phone). Waiting forever and a day sees no activity also, it remains frozen even after going overnight. Since I still have the files, I've also tried the Odin back to stock method without success. No clue what to do now, 5027 is still installed, but can go back to 6032 if necessary.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Okay di you follow the roms flashing instructions to the letter, that being said what rom did you try flashing. I want to note that on 5.0.2.7 you can upgrade to 6.0.3.2 directly, you have to flash to 5.0.2.8 and then flash to 6.0.3.2. And also just because that is the latest cwm doesnt mean you have to use to flash roms, 5.0.2.7 still works for rfs roms and 5.0.2.8 still works for ext roms. What 6.0.3.2 brings is that you can flash both of those roms without worry as long as you followed hte flashing instructions properly, they are usually data, system, and cache wipes.

explain what you mean by this: I've also tried the Odin back to stock method without success.

Yes, in my quest to upgrade, I went to 5028, then 6032. I followed instructions 100%, and tried to install Monster 5.3 non-overclock ROM (non-ext4). That's when the trouble started.

Retracing my steps as I think about this, I may have made one error. I don't remember rebooting 5028 after flashing it. I went straight to flashing 6032. Crap. This may be the straw that broke me.

As for Odin, I followed the instructions from the original thread. I went into download mode and reinstalled 5027. I can boot and get into it, but of course I get mount issues since the original sd card isn't in there. The 16GB card in there now is partitioned as FAT32, but will not restore any of my backups.

Qandres12, I appreciate the help. I sure hope this phone can be brought back to life.

Didn't see that in my quest for satisfaction, but I'll sure give 'em both a try. I"m sure to find the stock backup here on this forum, but could you post a link for the Samsung file? Thanks a bunch...

edit: Tired from work, do you mean these backups:

[STOCK] [CWM-BACKUP] Samsung Admire 2.3.4 Stock (EH02)

2.3.6 Rooted - Debloated [CWM BACKUP]

I'll assume my almost 2 year old Admire is EH02...

Thanks again Qandres, you have my gratitude!

Sorry im on my phone using Tapatalk i cant right now provide the link for it but you simply go to samsung.com and in the search box type in samsung admire and make sure its thr metropcs version. In there is way to get to drivers and software and its there. Maybe tomorrow ill give you the actual link when im on my computer, im tired as well. And yes those are the links but the first one has dead links and thats thr one you want since yoy probably never done the update from 2.3.4 to 2.3.6. Luckily i reposted the contents in of that thread in a new post. I bumped it up today so it can easily be found on the first page that lists the threads.

And the Crowd goes wild! Instead of using the stock backup to restore, I used a backup from December, and it booted right up. My only question now, which do I do first: install the non-OC Monster 5.3 then upgrade to 6032, or the reverse?

Thanks again for the help, where is the link to buy you a frosty beverage?? :D

I belive if you flash 6032 it supports all roms rtf/ext4

I think I found the relevant data at the Samsung site. Is it the software upgrade for FF18?
