Root Another way to un-root/flash stock rom?

So when I first got my phone, i decided to root/s-off/flash hormonia my Evo V.

But now I figured this life isn't for me since I don't get snapchat notifications/can't take snapshots via home+hold(Or whatever it was)

I looked into the guides that guide you to unroot and all that back to stock but when I flashed the stock rom(Odex and De-odex) it would like to bootloop.

Is there any way to fix the bootloop problem and get my phone back to stock?

Your post cut off.

But I assume you want to remove SuperUser and flash back to stock totally?

What hboot are you on? 1.57 or 1.58? If you're on 1.57, you can run the RUU.

If you're on 1.58...Well, I'm not too sure there...Since you can't downgrade with an RUU...But maybe Brian would know

Sorry, I messed up and started a new thread. But I'm on HBOOT 1.04.2000 (PG861000)

Install the drivers on your PC, download your RUU, and run the RUU on your PC. That's one of the easiest ways. Alternatively, you can download this file and rename it to PG86IMG.zip, put that on your SD card. Reboot into bootloader and allow it to do its thing.

I did the alternative way and still on hormonia.

Do I proceed to flashing the stock rom?

That file I sent you should set you back to the stock ROM. Not sure why it didn't...Reboot into bootloader and see what your hboot is. If its 1.57, then you can go ahead and do the stock ROM.

I went ahead and flash the stock rom. I am now having second thoughts about the un-root since I love the Wifi password app and my HTC camera app with no shutter.

But Thank you for showing me the way though.
Appreciate it.

Late to the party. @Prinny, when s-off you can downgrade via ruu which it looks like you figured already :) No security checks are being done so hboot, mainversion, etc doesn't matter.

Sounds like you didn't successfully run the ruu. It will return your phone completely stock. When you reboot into the bootloader it should ask you if you want to update. You have to say yes by hitting volume up. Then it will take ~10 minutes to run the RUU and after it's finished it will boot the phone up to the stock os.

If it didn't prompt you to update you either:
a.) Booted into fastboot rather than bootloader
b.) didn't correctly name the file
c.) didn't place the file on the root of the sd card.
-------------------
a.) if you are rebooting into your bootloader via adb command adb reboot bootlaoder it will put you in fastboot mode and you have to select bootloader from that menu. Alternatively boot into bootloader with volume down + power.

b.) make sure the file isn't getting named PG86IMG.zip.zip The filename needs to be PG86IMG and the extension is .zip and the filename is case sensitive as well. All caps.

c.) Make sure you place it on the root of the sd card and not inside of any folders.
