Might want to warn people that if they are patched with LOKI for recovery that they might want to hold off updating until deemed safe. Sprint got a similar update yesterday and it was clean, but since Verizon was locked up initially, this might destroy your exploit around the locked bootloader.

We have two SGS4s (one rooted and one not) so I updated the vanilla one.

I noticed there is a new entry in the About Phone section that says "Secure boot status" with "Type: Samsung" as the entry. That is not there in my rooted one.

With this update some apps can be moved to the SD card but I have not yet seen a complete list of all changes.

I am waiting until the "keeping root" issues get resolved before I update my second phone. Having root is more important to me than moving some apps.

It will probably become an ota, but it might take a while.

Just looked at my phone and it is downloading OTA software update. I am on Verizon network.

If you care about root or a bootloader patch, you may not want it to install.

It should give you an option to install now or later once the download completes

Just downloaded the update on my phone by OTA. Took about 14 minutes. I live in Ohio, but was near Louisville, Kentucky when I checked for it and downloaded it.

That should do it, mine is downloading now. More convenient to get it going now since I'm on my speedy wifi.

After download is complete, "Software update available - Tap to install new software" will appear if you drag down the notification bar.

I did mine on wifi - maybe the 4G pipe is spacing out the update traffic. See what happens on wifi.

Nope. Still nothing. Not sure that would make a difference anyway, I think it is just a random thing. When you get it, you get it. Connection ( 4G , 3G , Wi-Fi ) doesn't really matter.

Yep just depends what market in and where your at when you'll get it

I'm reading on other forums that this update has gone OTA. However, as of now, it appears that the update will:

1) Irreversibly kill root; and
2) Apparently also kills app-based hotspotting (i.e., FoxFi) - NOT TRUE, SEE BELOW

You've been warned - apply update at your own risk!

[UPDATE]:

I just installed the patch, and I am happy to let you all know that wifi tethering still works (at least using FoxFi). Many people on the FoxFi app page are complaining that the update killed it, but I can confirm it still works. However, when you activate hotspot, you will get an error page warning you that a hostspot subscription is required. When you get that page, simply hit the Home button and you will be good to go!
