Im trying to unlock my device which is on 4.1.2, the phone is not rooted and I dont want to root it, I found a easy method but it appears to only works on 4.1.1, which I had a week ago :(

Do I really need to root it in order to unlock my device ?

I found several people near my area who can unlock my phone and they say they dont need to root it or anything, how do they do ? why do they charge for it if it take 10min ?

any help will be greatly appreciated, also I have a note 2 I want to unlock as well.

Did you buy them outright? What networks are you trying them to unlock them for/to?

Over here, networks have to unlock if you've been with them for a set period of time. It's illegal in the US unfortunately. Canada has no restrictions afaik.

I live in canada fortunately, I am with videotron and want to switch to another service when im out of town, since I travel a lot.

If canada is the same as in europe, unlocking is just a matter of putting in another carriers sim and entering a long code number. No rooting required and if a store offers to do it cheaper than your carrier then go for it. Shop around though so you dont mug yourself

yeah well, if I can save 60 bucks (since I want two unlocks) I should have unlocked it before I upgraded it to 4.1.2, didnt knew, meh.

I might give a try to downgrade it, just gotta find a safe method that doesnt root my phone
