so my s2 is rooted and everytime i get a notification of a JB update it reboots and gets stuck with the lil android dude standing near a exclamation point inside a triangle was wondering if there was a better way to get my phone updated i believe it was flashing to stock i believe but the problem is my pc sucks and wont recognize my phone regardless of how many times i uninstall and re install samsung drivers im pretty much left with my SD card is there a route to upgrade my phone thru sd rather than plugging it into my usb into my comp or im just doomed at this point thank you.

Have you tried installing samsung kies (wich will always have the latest samsung drivers for your device) ? I'M sure you do have it installed. After installation of drivers, are you rebooting pc?

Another option will be, mobile odin if you can't get you pc to recognize your device.

Edit: you will have to root your device in order to use mobile odin.

there is one little problem w/ mobile odin and that is that you will have no data if upgrading from ICS, due to mobile odin not been able to handle modems for our devices. So you will either 1- flash a custom recovery to be able to flash a modem via recovery or 2- find a pc you can use for @ least 5min to flash modem via pc odin.

It will take a bit of doing but you can get GC01 installed from the tar inside the one click archive via mobile Odin. You need to download everything to your phone before starting. go to Google play store and get Zarchiver to extract the archive out of the exe. Also You will also need to get the recovery kernel for GC01 and the zip format of the GC01 modem (mobile odin has issues with modems on our phone and doesn't do it consistently). You would then flash the ROM the tar version of the recovery kernel, and use the recovery to flash the modem.

Yes, it is a more complicated install. You could just disable the update checking part in android and not be bothered by the update and stay on what you are on.

if you still want to upgrade then here you go:

1- You need to root your current os in order to use mobile odin.
2- Download JB .tar rooted file , from here . NOTE the .tar files from the link are full restore, so ill recommend you to backup everything before you flash.
3- Download the modem, go w/ the .zip file. You will have to use a custom recovery to flash it. You can get the modem from here
4- download the custom recovery to flash the modem. you can get the custom recovery from here.
5- Place everything you downloaded on the root of sd card for easy access.

now the fun part

1- root your device
2- download mobile odin
3- download titanium back up and back up all your apps.
4- flash the JB rom via mobile odin
5- connect to a network. (since you have no data, you will have to connect your device to a network via wifi).
6- redownload mobile odin
7- flash custom recovery via mobile odin
8- flash modem via custom recovery.
9- done
